Robie is dispatched to eliminate a target unusually close to home in Washington, D.C. But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable: He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.

Fleeing the scene, Robie crosses paths with a wayward teenage girl, a 14-year-old runaway from a foster home. But she isn't an ordinary runaway....

Good characters and some twists as the plot opens. Enjoyed the read. Lots of action and surprises true to Baldacci. The performance by Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy make the characters come alive.

The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

What did you love best about Beautiful Ruins?

I loved all the diverse characters and how each life somehow was entangled with others. The narrator did a great job especially with Pascal. I loved being transported to Italy and all the complexity. At first, I wasn't sure I'd selected well but as the story weaves through time and place I could not push stop.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jess Walter? Why or why not?

I might if other titles have such good character building.

What about Edoardo Ballerini’s performance did you like?

    Excellent

    Any additional comments?

I was very disappointed in the ending. Did they make it to the bunker? Were the paintings still there? Did Pat stay in Idaho? Much was answered but too many things remain.

Acclaimed author Michael J. Sullivan created instant best sellers with his spellbinding Riyria Revelations series. This first volume introduces Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater, two enterprising thieves who end up running for their lives when they’re framed for the death of the king. Trapped in a conspiracy bigger than they can imagine, their only hope is unraveling an ancient mystery - before it’s too late.

This was an extremely good story of a different time and place.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

New twist on behavior and motivation. I really liked the comparisons of Motivation 1.0 to the industrial age and Motivation 2.0 to the information age. He offers suggestions for where education needs to go that I believe are headed in the right directions. As an educator of 30 + years, I understand what he is trying to show the slowly changing world of education but realize that these changes will take a long time to occur. This is a good read and most informative while filled with humor and easy to understand.

15 thriller masters. 1 masterful thriller! Former war crimes investigator Harold Middleton possesses a previously unknown score by Frederic Chopin. But he is unaware that, within it's handwritten notes, lies a secret that now threatens the lives of thousands of Americans. As he races from Poland to the U.S. to uncover the mystery of the manuscript, Middleton will be accused of murder, pursued by federal agents, and targeted by assassins.
