The Thorn Birds is a robust, romantic saga of a singular family, the Clearys. It begins in the early part of the 20th century, when Paddy Cleary moves his wife, Fiona, and their 7 children to Drogheda, the vast Australian sheep station owned by his autocratic and childless older sister. It ends more than half a century later, when the only survivor of the third generation, the brilliant actress Justine O'Neill, embarks on a course of life and love halfway around the world from her roots.

"Thornbirds stands the test of time"

I read The Thornbirds many years ago. It was fun to listen to it instead so many years later. Mary Woods did a fabulous job with characterization of the voices. Although it was a long book, I enjoyed every minute of listening to the story.

New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury, the “queen of inspirational fiction” (Time), is acclaimed for her poignant, uplifting novels. Once the perfect couple, John and Abby have drifted apart. Now—after 21 years of love, loss, and laughter—they’ve chosen divorce. When they gather their three children to break the news, their daughter joyfully announces her engagement. Determined not to ruin her happiness, Abby and John put their plans on hold.

    Kelly says: "faith builder"
"A Time to Dance taught me new steps"
    Overall

Karen Kingsbury's "A Time to Dance" is a beautiful picture of hope for struggling marriages and families. Each character is going through something that just about every reader can relate to. This is the third time I've read (now listened to) this book because I get much hope from the story for my marriage. It is a timeless novel and makes a wonderful gift for an anniversary or wedding. I highly recommend it.
