This is the first in the popular series featuring California investigator Kinsey Millhone. She's 32, twice divorced, no kids, an ex-cop who likes her work...and who works strictly alone!

This was my first and my last Sue Grafton novel. Her writing was amateurish and her characters 2 dimensional and stupid. The plot was painfully predictable. Her main character never really told the story, but outlined steps and frequently talked about herself in the 3rd person rather than the 1st person (the story was being told, or attempting to be told in 1st person voice). I would characterize this book as a dime store novel. Do not waste your time with this book, and if this book is typical of her writing, I would avoid the author as well. It would take me far too long to describe how awful this book was with all of its cliche's, plot holes, and anti-climatic events. I was thrilled when the book was done. I guess my first clue should have been that the abridged version was taken down to 2 ish hours where the original was around 8. Any book that can shrink that much doesn't have much in it.

In the wild, when a wolf knows its time is over, when it knows it is of no more use to its pack, it may sometimes choose to slip away. Dying apart from its family, it stays proud and true to its nature. Humans aren’t so lucky. Luke Warren has spent his life researching wolves. He has written about them, studied their habits intensively, and even lived with them for extended periods of time.

I really wanted to live this book, but I couldn't. It was superbly written but felt more like a shiny beatiful balloon that has a slow leek. One of the things that bothered me the most was the artistic liberties taken with facts about wolves. The performance for the most part was great. I think the story was a let down and not very believable for me.

Researchers have confirmed what many of us have intuitively known for most of our lives: the Top 2% of Americans set the trend for clothes, cars, entertainment, even food. But, more importantly, they are also healthier and happier (despite any myths you may have heard), and have greater control of their time.

I have no idea how this book has the high ratings it does. It is absolutely the worst self help book I have ever come across. It's nauseating and reeks of infomercial snake oil scam. It is full of contradictions and nothing new. For example, it talks about finding your passion, which is a good thing. The issue is they claim to you can be passionate about anything if you learn more about it. They had the listener pick something they had no interest in and claimed if you knew more about it you would have more passion about it and that's what's needed. Interest and curiosity do not passion make. Most of the time while I listened to this book I wanted to track down the people who put it together and slap them repeatedly with a baseball bat. Don't waste the credit or the money because this book just sucks.

In the beginning the story was good and the characters were interesting. The author does a great job of creating and describing the period. However, about mid way I kept hoping some higher power would strike everyone down so the book would just end. It was laborious and dragged out far too long. I hate abridged novels, but this book really needs to become one. It is 30 hours long and could easily have been condensed down to 15-17 hours without losing a thing. The narrator was great. The characters get to the point of being unbelievable and I lost interest in caring about them. Just to get through the book I listened at a higher speed and frankly the book got painful after hour 17.

This was a good young adult novel. It was more unique than others. The writing was definitely young in style. The best thing about this book is its morals and how clean it was. It sets a great example for young adults in a romantic situation. I wouldn't waste a credit on it but a couple of bucks, sure.

This was a really good book. It had a unique story line and the characters were good. The best part is it was a romance but didn't have all the gratuitous sex in it that so many do. The female narrator was not good at all. Flat and robotic much of the time. The male narrator was great. It did have several F bombs which weren't needed, but for $2.00 you it was well worth it.

This new narrator is horrible for the voice of the main character and the women. His voice made most of the characters sound like depressed wimps; very monotone and just horrible. The story continued and was as good as the first 2, but I almost had to return the book because of the narrator. If the mistake of keeping this guy as the narrator had continued to book 4 I would have returned the whole series and gotten them on kindle.
