Deftly written and emotionally powerful, Drowning Ruth is a stunning portrait of the ties that bind sisters together and the forces that tear them apart, of the dangers of keeping secrets and the explosive repercussions when they are exposed. A mesmerizing and achingly beautiful debut.

The book is very evident. 2 hours into it you know everything that will happen. The plot is slow and long. Its not a book I would ever read again and wouldn't have missed it if I had never read it.

Catch-22 is set in the closing months of World War II, in an American bomber squadron on a small island off Italy. Its hero is a bombardier named Yossarian, who is frantic and furious because thousands of people he hasn't even met keep trying to kill him. (He has decided to live forever, even if he has to die in the attempt.)

How did this idiotic book get such great reviews from others? Where they paid? I endured 8 chapters of utter nonsense and pathetic characters and after that broke. I skipped ahead to the middle of the book and started again and missed nothing. I didn't wonder what was going on because it was the same. The narrator was great, the story horrible. In short you have a group of military men who don't want to be where they are, try everything to get out of duty and one guy (the main character) who is a sniveling little coward who thinks everyone is out to get him and fakes illness all the time to get out of stuff. Others saw dark humor, so maybe I just didn't get it. For me I wanted the enemy to drop a bomb and kill everyone I hated the characters that badly and I wanted the book to end. Even with speeding and skipping the book was way too long. Don't waste your money or the credit as they're are so many books out there that are sssooooo much better than this piece of garbage.

The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them all they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil.

I do not know how this book got the reviews it did. The narrator was absolutely horrible. The story wasn't much better. It was told by 4 women from personal point of view and not executed well. Basically its a self-righteous missionary man dragging his neglected wife and daughters who thinks very little of off to the Congo. Each women/girl tells what's going on with them and stuff from their personal point of view and it is boring and poorly executed. It's one of the few books I couldn't finish it was so bad.

In the wild, when a wolf knows its time is over, when it knows it is of no more use to its pack, it may sometimes choose to slip away. Dying apart from its family, it stays proud and true to its nature. Humans aren’t so lucky. Luke Warren has spent his life researching wolves. He has written about them, studied their habits intensively, and even lived with them for extended periods of time.

I really wanted to live this book, but I couldn't. It was superbly written but felt more like a shiny beatiful balloon that has a slow leek. One of the things that bothered me the most was the artistic liberties taken with facts about wolves. The performance for the most part was great. I think the story was a let down and not very believable for me.

I have no idea how this book has the high ratings it does. It is absolutely the worst self help book I have ever come across. It's nauseating and reeks of infomercial snake oil scam. It is full of contradictions and nothing new. For example, it talks about finding your passion, which is a good thing. The issue is they claim to you can be passionate about anything if you learn more about it. They had the listener pick something they had no interest in and claimed if you knew more about it you would have more passion about it and that's what's needed. Interest and curiosity do not passion make. Most of the time while I listened to this book I wanted to track down the people who put it together and slap them repeatedly with a baseball bat. Don't waste the credit or the money because this book just sucks.

In the beginning the story was good and the characters were interesting. The author does a great job of creating and describing the period. However, about mid way I kept hoping some higher power would strike everyone down so the book would just end. It was laborious and dragged out far too long. I hate abridged novels, but this book really needs to become one. It is 30 hours long and could easily have been condensed down to 15-17 hours without losing a thing. The narrator was great. The characters get to the point of being unbelievable and I lost interest in caring about them. Just to get through the book I listened at a higher speed and frankly the book got painful after hour 17.

This was a good young adult novel. It was more unique than others. The writing was definitely young in style. The best thing about this book is its morals and how clean it was. It sets a great example for young adults in a romantic situation. I wouldn't waste a credit on it but a couple of bucks, sure.
