I thought this book did a good job of capturing the same feel of Doyle's character. It explained a few of his idiosyncrasies and beekeeping. The story was very good.

The paralyzed man's contraption for getting around was very "steam punk" and fitting with Holmes cases.

Definitely worth checking out if you're a diehard Holmes fan.

This story was designed for a science geek like me. Every one of the explanations was informative and entertaining.

His humorous edge made the book enjoyable.

I found this book tedious to listen to, and the story not easy to follow. There were too many names to unforgettable characters to keep my interest. I did finish listening, but just barely.

I listened to the next sequel, Garment of Shadows, and was delighted to have a great Holmes story back again.

Laurie King doesn't disappoint with this story. Once again there are some good characters and a convoluted story line to keep you entertained.

I think this book is as good as most of her books.

I have read the entire Amelia Peabody series and loved the stories and characters. I thought this would be a similar read by the same author. Not really in the same class of story though- for me.

I would recommend this book to history buffs as well as science geeks. It explains the whole way of thinking in the medical world at the turn of the 20th century. It put in perspective the end of WWI and just how quickly life could be snuffed out by these alien viruses.

I find Scott's voice to be ok but his delivery is grating. I find there is too much "hype" in the words, if you know what I'm trying to say. His voice is not a calm, pleasing one. But that aside he does a wonderful job getting the meaning across.

When I came to the conclusion that the smartest people in the world at that time still had no clue how to end this terrible epidemic. It makes me really appreciate the world of medicine in which we now live.

This book will open your eyes to just how complicated, yet chemically simple we humans are.

She has a voice and personality for each character that are perfectly meshed. YOu know exactly who is talking.

I liked the anecdotal stories that were thrown in with history to make the progression of English come alive. It explained a lot of words that I never knew came as the result of war bringing languages into an area or home with the troops.

The delivery was not boring and it kept me engaged.

I listened to this book over 3 days while quilting. It kept my attention- which is pretty good.

I would listen to this again for the pure entertainment of Mr. Wood's rendition.

I love Jim because of his simple wisdom. He was perfectly voiced and twanged by Elijah Wood.

I am astonished at how the *N* word sticks out. It just shows how the English language and people have changed in 100 years. I laughed a lot. Twain was quite an observer of peoples.
