  • Lost Boys

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Orson Scott Card
    • Narrated By Stefan Rudnicki

Step Fletcher, his pregnant wife DeAnne, and their three children move to Steuben, North Carolina, with high hopes. But Step's new job with a software company turns out to be a snake pit, and 8-year-old Stevie's school is worse. As Stevie retreats into himself, focusing more and more on a mysterious computer game and a growing troop of imaginary friends, the Fletchers' concern turns to terror.

    Dave says: "A knockout"
    "It hit me hard."

I really connected with this book. It's not that I have any life experiences that are directly related, but that I am a 29 year old father finding his career. The characters were very honest. The father in this story reminded me so many times of my fears of raising my boys in such a harsh world. I knew it was coming the whole way through the book, but I didn't know where and I was so nervous for the family that I couldn't stop listening. Read this.

  • The Time Traveler's Wife

    • ABRIDGED (12 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Audrey Niffenegger
    • Narrated By Maggi-Meg Reed, Christopher Burns

Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six. They were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry was thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future.

Herve Bronnimann says: "My Favorite Audiobook so far"
    "I miss this book."

When I was done I let out a long sigh. I miss Henry and Clare like they are people in my life that have moved away. I am trying to listen to the book again, but I feel like Henry reliving special moments of his life that he has already lived. I loved this book. I am a geek, but the sci-fi in this book is not the draw for me. Read this book.

  • The Vietnam Tapes of Lance Corporal Michael A. Baronowski

    • Abridged/Unabridged (19 mins)
    • By Jay Allison, Christina Egloff
    • Narrated By Jay Allison, Friends

In 1966, a young Marine took a reel-to-reel tape recorder with him into the Vietnam War. For two months, until he was killed in action, Michael Baronowski made tapes of his friends, of life in foxholes, of combat. And he sent those audio letters home to his family in Norristown, Pennsylvania. 34 years later, his comrade Tim Duffie brought those tapes to radio producer Jay Allison, as part of the Lost & Found Sound series. This radio story originally aired on NPR's All Things Considered.

    Joel says: "Touching"

I really fell into this short piece. Fortunately or Unfortunately I am too young to remember Vietnam. I am old enough to be the father to 2 beautiful boys. I can not imagine how hard it must have been. This helps me appreciate every second with family. Thank you Audible.

  • Le Show, 1-Month Subscription

    • Abridged/Unabridged (1 hr)
    • By Harry Shearer
    • Narrated By Harry Shearer

Le Show is a program of satire, humor, and commentary about the week's news. Comedy sketches written and performed by multi-talented multimedia artist Harry Shearer, interwoven with an eclectic, ever-changing blend of music; from world to pop, soul to jazz. Shearer says about Le Show, "I do it because I don't do standup, and I don't do sitcoms, and the radio broadcast enables me to do what I think is funny in a broadcast medium without having to listen either to network executives or Canadian producers."

    David says: "Overpriced!"
"I look forward to hearing this."

I listen to a lot of talk radio and I think this may be one of the most unique shows out there. Harry is brilliant and very entertaining. You need to listen to this.
