"An informative cautionary tale, though a bit long"
The author has clearly done a lot of research in this field and presents a coherent and thorough treatise. It took me a long time to put together almost 9 hours of listening time, though, and for me it started to drag a little toward the end. The author strays a little from relating facts to expressing speculative personal opinion, when he speculates that a tendency toward embracing spiritual beliefs may also be the consequence of a brain bug. (The truly devout may find that part of the book a bit offensive.)
Overall, though, I think this book is a worthwhile read. Take notes, if you want to use his advice. There is just too much info here to hold it all in your head and consolidate it.
"This is a really good read!"
If you are not already familiar with this research, I think you will be blown away. It just makes so much sense. We are naturally so vulnerable to manipulation by people with real mastery of these principles. If you want to keep more of your money in your own pocket, if you want a huge advantage in the workplace, you owe it to yourself to immerse yourself in this book. Read it more than once, and slowly...
"How to Lean from Successful Leaders"
Jeffrey Liker has a knack for simplifying and encapsulating the essence of Lean. In this book, Liker weaves Gary Convis' personal experiences and insights into another engaging and valuable treatment of the subject. If you are engaged in a Lean journey, you should read this book.
"One man's journey into a world of mental athletes"
This book has nothing to do with either Moonwalking or with Einstein. Cool title, sure, but in no way a clue as to the subject matter. I most enjoyed this book when I was learning little tidbits about history. There were times when I had the impression that the author had gathered way more research material than he knew what to do with. Some listeners may feel that the author wanders a little, to find ways to share all those fun facts. Looking back from the end, though, my overall impression is of an interesting and engaging personal story of one man's experiential journey into the fringe world of mental athletes. A recommended read.
