"Genius writer – Terrible Narrator"
Since there is only 1 review here I thought I’d chime in. While you’ll find some real pearls in here, Woody’s narrating came across like he just wanted to get it over with. Hurrying through the stories and often blending his words together. It sometimes made it difficult to understand. Plus it sounded like his mouth was getting dry and he could have used some water. Overall though his thought process is quite interesting and he’s clever witty guy.
"Ridiculous"
The main character has a one night stand years and years ago, meets the guy and has a sudden overly obsessive school girl crush on him that she can't do her job of solving a murder. Yet we are suppose to believe that she is a strong capable police sergeant. The story lost me because this woman's and man's adolescent relationship is so absolutely school-yard, surgary-sweet and unbelievable.
"Terrible Narrator"
I just couldn't get past the horrible narration. I agreed with some of the other reviews that listening to his portrayal of the wife (Lauren) and son (Gabe) was like fingernails on a chalkboard. Unfortunately, they are two major characters. I may have enjoyed this book otherwise. But just couldn't get through it. It was that irritating!
