I will admit when I first starting listening to this book, I was a bit unsure I would like it. But Skulduggery and Stephanie quickly grew on me. The "bad guys" are really something and even some of the "good guys" are things I would want to avoid. I think boys would love this series b/c even though the main character is a girl, she fights like no boy I know. The battle/fight descriptions are detailed and graphic - Mr. Landy puts us IN the action. And girls will like this book because Stephanie/Val is such a strong character. Rupert Degas does a fine job as narrator, giving voice to each character. And I love the sounds, howls, screams and jiggling bones between sections.
Flanagan has written a book that makes you care about the characters from the get go.
Keating is the best at narrating these books. Only buy his versions!
Yes, I almost did!
The smart banter between Will and Jem made the book truly enjoyable.
I was so disappointed that Jennifer gave Gabriel a lisp! I had to go back to the book to see if the character was supposed to have one and he wasn't. Did she run out of ways to do a male voice so she added the lisp to differentiate? Regardless, it was a bad move. I didn't notice that the other 2 books were narrated by others or I would have listened to them. Instead I read my daughter's nook versions.
Mr. Landy again brings magic, loyalty, treachery and surprise to the third Skulduggery Pleasant book. I'm ready for the next one and if you read it, you will be too.
This book is over 9 thousand.
