  • Travels in Siberia

    • UNABRIDGED (20 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Ian Frazier
    • Narrated By Ian Frazier

Ian Frazier trains his eye for unforgettable detail on Siberia, that vast expanse of Asiatic Russia. He explores many aspects of this storied, often grim region. He writes about the geography, the resources, the native peoples, the history, the 40-below midwinter afternoons, the bugs. The book brims with Mongols, half-crazed Orthodox archpriests, fur seekers, ambassadors of the czar bound for Peking, tea caravans, German scientists, American prospectors, intrepid English nurses, and prisoners and exiles of every kind....

Where does Travels in Siberia rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

ranks as one of the top 5 books i have listened to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Travels in Siberia?

I loved the discription of the tundra and the camping at night.

Which character – as performed by Ian Frazier – was your favorite?

I especially liked Sasha. I know there were a lot of Sashas but I think the one that drove and planned the trip was Sasha. I liked his personality and how he actually ended up more like a friend.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No I listened over a period of 2 weeks on my way to work and home.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not what I ordered and not related to weight loss. This is anxiety related and for relaxation

What could Erick Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Could have made it weight loss related like the ad said.

What didn’t you like about the narrator’s performance?

    It was ok

What character would you cut from Extreme Weight Loss Hypnosis?

Character?? Its audio subliminal. Only one reader

    Any additional comments?

Change the ad...this is for anxiety not for weight loss.

  • Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail (Oprah's Book Club 2.0)

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Cheryl Strayed
    • Narrated By Bernadette Dunne
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Would you listen to Wild again? Why?

Yes I would listen again. Somehow I felt a connection with the story and the relationship between Cheryl and her mother. I am lucky enough to still have my mother but the road has been rocky at times. Overall I found Cheryl to be brave and sensible and wish I had the courage to leave everything behind and hike off into the woods...I still may.

What other book might you compare Wild to and why?

I can't compare this story to another. It stands on its own.

What does Bernadette Dunne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms. Dunne brings a voice to the story, an actual person to relate to. I love true stories of adventure but hate to take the time to read. Ms. Dunne enabled me to be there..hiking along.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    lifechanging adventure
