It took some time to get into it because I didn't read the first book but was absorbed and got involved as the book progressed. Good read...not sure I will or need to read the first book tho

I wanted to listen to this book before I saw the movie. I am glad I did. It is a heartwarming story that, while it takes a bit to get into at the beginning, it became a book I couldn't stop listening to.

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

    Story
If you could sum up Dark Places in three words, what would they be?

Intense, unpredictable and have I said intense

What did you like best about this story?

The way Gillian brought out and developed the characters. The story flowed smoothly and kept you interested in finding out what happens next.

Which character ??? as performed by the narrators ??? was your favorite?

Libby by far. It is her story. I really liked how realistically her character was, that is, a woman who suffered a horrific trauma. I thought she was believable.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were so many moments...but mostly Libby....
