If you like nautical history; I cannot imagine that you would not like this book. This historic expedition is a remarkable adventure for which this book tells well.
My wife and I listened to Shutter Island and both agree that Tom Stechschulte did a very good job with a very good book by Dennis Lehane. I am not much for novels but I do have to say that this kept my interest.
If you like nautical history this is a great book for you. I am not a diver and was pleased to get such a great education on diving from this book as well as a lesson on the history surounding the events. 6 stars would be more appropriate. Other that I personally know that listened to or read this book share my opinion of "amazing".
Purchased this book based on reviews. What a mistake. I generally think that my opinions on comedy are fairly mainstream. I can only think that the overwhelming positive reviews are based on something other than David's comedy. The publisher's mention of David in the same light as George Carlin, Bill Cosby, and Steve Martin outrageous. David does not come close to these great comedians.
This was a great audiobook; but the narration was not done well. When I first started listening I thought I was not going to be able to put up with the narration. I stuck with it; and I would say that the greatness of the book outweighed the lack of great narration.
I remember as a kid thinking that the movie "To Sir with Love" was a great movie. This book was a short review of his life and a great reflection on his childhood and his parents. I am not much of a movie buff and generally do not even know actors names, however, Sidney Poitier has always drawn some admiration. I would recommend this book for anyone that is a fan or anyone looking for a good short read to reflect on a "simpler" time.
