I might try another one of her books, but only if I had nothing better to listen to...
The performance would have been better if the narrator was anyone else... She would be perfect for a phone sex line, but she is one of the worst narrators I've heard in some time.
There was too much 'will I, won't I' and hot and cold. There should have been better dialogue between the characters. There was no witty banter and the 'fights' between the main characters was unimaginative and bland, not to mention the change in attitude of the characters could give you whip lash.
Try before you by and don't expect too much from this book. If you have a spare half a day on a beach or under a coconut tree then you might enjoy it.
I love the narration of Tavia Gilbert, she gives the characters such great attitude... It helps to be narrating a fun book with spunk.
I'm Australian, but even I find this narrator's voice grating. There are also too many quotes from the bible in the book they seem to just come one after the other. The story is OK, but I wouldn't say it's fantastic. But I'm not the target audience.
I found the relationship age difference between two main characters to be disconcerting and condoning of a 17 year old to have a relationship with a 26 year old who also has a mentoring/authority figure role in the female characters life. It seemed a little too much glamorising a student having a relationship with a teacher.
I liked the book, But as an Australian from Melbourne I was disappointed that the narrator didn't have a real Australian accent... I liked the references to Melbourne rather than some US city. I also think that Laurel K Hamilton is better at writing sex scenes though, This writer still needs to work on hers, and have a bit more imagination...
