"Never been much of a science fiction fan..."
That is, until I started reading the Ender series. I can't even remember how I started, but it was the first time I found myself sitting in the driveway not wanting to get out of the car so that I could just keep listening. Not only that, the book has really stayed with me and I find myself thinking about the book from time to time. The writing and creativity are just mind blowing. This series alone has converted me to a Science Fiction fan. It's been 3 years since my first read of Enders game, and I'm listening to it again now and loving it just as much the second time around. Even if you're not typically into SciFi, I highly recommend you give it a try. Like another reader pointed out, it's slow to start - but stick with it. It gets so good!
"Definitely must read if interested in ABA therapy"
This is an inspirational account of a family devoting themselves to their Autistic child. It is always hopeful to hear 'recovery' stories for children diagnosed on the spectrum. I am very appreciated that Mrs. Graham shared her story experience with ABA therapy for her son, (especially from her account) at a time where ABA therapy wasn't readily available to autistic individuals in Austin TX.
Being new to this world of therapies, supplements, interventions, etc., I find it inspiring that her intuition of what would work best for her son paved a path to her son learning and thriving. I gave it 4 stars, because I am quickly learning that not all autistic therapies, supplements, interventions, etc., work for all autistic individuals. IF you are interested in ABA therapy, it is a great story.
"Getting Old doesn't have to suck"
This book is very eye opening. We're all raised to think that as we get older we will slow down, things will start to hurt and we will slowly fade away. This book dispels that myth and teaches you exactly what is happening to our bodies, and how todays lifestyle is killing us, literally.
This is not the type of book I would normally read, but I'm glad I did. It has me on the road to living a much longer and more satisfying life then I would have otherwise, and I'm only in my 40's.
While this book is heavily focused on men, the message works for men and women, and I've encouraged many people to read this book, and even gifted it to a few friends. I'm actually excited about my physical future now.
"Sounds like it was recorded over the phone"
The content of the book is fine, but I can't help but be distracted by the very poor quality of the audio. I've probably read over 100 books from Audible and this is the first time I was so disappointed in the quality. Even for free I would expect better quality.
I am telling you, it doesn't just sound like it was recorded over a telephone, it WAS recorded over a telephone. In this day and age when you can spend a few hundred dollars and record very nice sounding audio into a laptop, there's really no excuse for this to exist. I'm very disappointed Audible. Give me my credit back!
"Take a pass on this one"
I read this book years ago when it first came out in print. I remember reading it cover to cover in a single day because I enjoyed it so much. So, I thought it would be fun to read it again on my iPod. After the first hour I turned it off and couldn't remember what I ever liked about it at all. As much as I like Paul Riser, I don't really care for the way he reads the book, and it doesn't help that the audio quality is so bad. I mean so bad that I'm still not convinced it was actually Paul Riser reading the book. You really can't tell for sure! In my opiniion, don't waste your time on this one. Sorry Paul.
"Made me want to buy the CD Set"
I thought this was an awesome book, and a good kick in the pants. I found after just a few days of listening I was much more energized about my business and felt like I had the keys to get past a few road blocks that have been holding me back. I'm actually considering buying the full CD set from his site just to get the workbook and notes (however it's pretty expensive at $299). I highly recommend this book for anybody that has their own business, or just feels stuck in a rut. If this book doesn't inspire you, you must be dead.
"Well, I liked it"
It seems people are being pretty hard on this book, or maybe I'm just easy to entertain, but I thought the book was interesting and got better as the story developed. Not the BEST book I've ever read, but a good story none the less.
"My favorite Dan Brown book so far"
Even though I really enjoyed The Da Vinci Code, I thought this book was even better. Especially given recent events. Having been to Rome just 2 years ago also really added something to the story for me. I enjoyed this book so much, I found myself missing my exit on the freeway more then once! I highly recommend it.
"Awesome background on Apple, NeXT, and Pixar."
If you have any interest in the computer industry at all, you will love this audio book. I was fascinated by the details that were given throughout the book. I was especially fascinated by the history it gave about Pixar, and the early years of computer animation. And if you have even the slightest interest in Steve Jobs or Apple, you will love it.
Some reviewers said the book was mean spirited, but I didn't get that at all. It seemed blatantly honest. Sometimes that was a good thing, sometimes not, And the use of profanity was few and far between, and was only when it applied to the story. Some people need to loosen up a little.
All in all, it was hands down my best audible purchase yet. I couldn't stand to have to pause my iPod when I got to work, and couldn't wait to pick up with the story when I left.
