This one felt like a poem to me. A sweet little gem. I loved the tone and the feel of the story. It really transported me. And the use of the background music really added to the overall experience. Kudos to Mr. Moehringer as both the author and narrator of this terrific book.
Such a unique story, with a depth of emotion that made for a wonderful "listen." Keith Szarabajka did a particularly good job with his character. I didn't want this book to end!
This book works on so many different levels, its hard to pinpoint just one reason why I enjoyed it so much. But I did. Thoroughly. Highly recommended.
Im so glad I read others' reviews and picked this one up myself. I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite (because of?) its grim storyline. No punches are pulled here, and I appreciated that.
I found this story to be quite engaging, suspenseful, and very realistic in its treatment of an aging, functioning alcoholic. Mary Beth Hurt couldn't be any better for giving voice to this cast of characters, especially Hildy. She nailed it!
What better story for Audible fanatics than one about the power of reading and sharing books. The remarkable relationship between Will and his Mother in her last years, and the role that books played during those years, makes for a beautiful read. I found myself wanting to be part of their exclusive book club as well. Several of the books Will and his mom shared are now on my Wish List.
This book just warmed my heart. Such an engaging love story, with goodly doses of humor and razor-sharp wit. I didn't want it to end.
It was nice to hear Edoardo Ballerini narrate again after doing such a terrific job on Beautiful Ruins. He really gets a chance to stretch his chops on this one with all the Italian and French accents, and he's simply remarkable. The story's pretty darn good, too! Funny, exciting and smart. I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I hope the movie does it justice.
I don't read or listen to much non-fiction, but I'm so glad I picked up this amazing autobiography. It literally blew me away. I have such admiration for the author and her courage to tell her story. It was gripping and stayed with me for weeks after the last word.
I don't know how I managed NOT to read this book before now, but I'm so glad Audible allowed me to make up for lost time. You couldn't ask for a better narrator for this rich, thoughtful book. Brilliant!
I see this as a sweet valentine to my home state of Wisconsin, but you don't have to hail from the Dairyland to appreciate the tender insights in this book. Loved it.
