In debt after her husband's unexpected death, Meg Rosenthal secures a job as a teacher at an upstate New York boarding school. Leaving suburban Long Island, Meg and her teenage daughter, Sally, embark on a new life in Arcadia Falls, a beautiful but isolated small town and the inspiration for a number of magically eerie fairy tales.

    Lenne says: "Decent book...horrible reader"
    "Carol Goodman does it again!"
    Overall

First off, I have become hooked on Carol Goodman's prose. Her ability to share a combined feeling and sense of tangible words together is rare in an author. To feel as if you are THERE watching and hearing, seeing at the same time... Carol's books are like this. I liked this one for all its teenage themed angst and drama... but I have to say, her books like The Sonnet Lover are a must read. I did like this one, as most all of her fans would ... because we love her work. But, in my personal opinion, based on what I prefer to listen to, this was not her best. However, you'll miss her, and always wonder what you missed... so download it and listen anyway! Besides, Jen does SUCH a great job with her characters!!

Tana French's debut, In the Woods, hit the New York Times best-seller list and drew rave reviews from the Times (London) and Booklist. Picking up six months later, this riveting sequel finds Detective Cassie Maddox still scarred by her last case. When her boyfriend calls her to a chilling murder scene, Cassie is forced to face her inner demons. A young woman has been found stabbed to death outside Dublin, and the victim looks just like Cassie.

Michael says: "Really on a Different Level"
    "What a wonderfully written book!"
    Overall

I stumbled upon Tana French's Into the Woods and discovered what a great read it was. Or, shall I say, a great listen. Tana French is a fantastic writer with the ability to make you FEEL as if the characters are totally real, and their emotions and decisions and frustrations fit right into your psyche as if they were old friends. This book is loosely a 2nd in a series, as I have already downloaded and listened to her other two first before this one, it seems they are tied together thru some character connections.

If you like the irish accent, soft lilt of a female voice and feeling a book deeply, and being able to picture your characters, download this! You won't be disappointed. And, while you're at it, grab her other two!! She's quite brilliant.

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

Nicole says: "You love it or you hate it..."
"Boy was I pissed at the ending"
    Overall

...I gave it my all. All those hours listening, enduring... and the end? Wasted. I was really, really disappointed at how this author chose to end this book. A nutcase and a waste of my precious time!
