From the age of three, Norman Ollestad was thrust into the world of surfing and competitive downhill skiing by the intense, charismatic father he both idolized and resented. While his friends were riding bikes, playing ball, and going to birthday parties, young Norman was whisked away in pursuit of wild and demanding adventures.

It was a wonderful warm, and exciting heartfelt read, regarding the injustices of life, courage and love...it might have been titled the things we learn and pass on. With the books author reading it the passion comes through from boy to Man and at the end a bit of divine intervention rgearding his rescue

Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill were the greatest leaders of "the Greatest Generation." Jon Meacham explores the fascinating relationship between the two men who piloted the free world to victory in World War II. It was a crucial friendship, and a unique one: a president and a prime minister spending enormous amounts of time together and exchanging nearly two thousand messages.

Although a bit of an Anglophile this illuminating work is a tour de force. You could hear feel and understand these great men Franklin and Winston in a very personal way. Not enough can be said about the continuity and joy of Meacham's work I look forward to more from this great researcher and author.
