In pre-war Prague, the dreams of two young lovers are shattered when they are separated by the Nazi invasion. Then, decades later, thousands of miles away in New York, there's an inescapable glance of recognition between two strangers. Providence is giving Lenka and Josef one more chance. From the glamorous ease of life in Prague before the Occupation, to the horrors of Nazi Europe, The Lost Wife explores the power of first love, the resilience of the human spirit, and the strength of memory.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Lost Wife to be better than the print version?

    Didn't read the print version

Have you listened to any of George Guidall and Suzanne Toren ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

George is my favorite and have purchased audio books because of him that I otherwise would not have considered.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Lost Wife title would be fine, although it would be hard to make this book into a movie and do justice.

    Any additional comments?

Just sit back, close your eyes, listen and try to imagine the times and events of those times. How would you feel?

Rick Dockery was the third-string quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. In a championship game, to the surprise and dismay of everyone, Rick actually got into the game and then provided what was arguably the worst single performance in the history of the NFL. Overnight, he became a national laughingstock and, of course, was immediately cut by the Browns and shunned by all other teams. But against enormous odds, Arnie finally locates another team that will have him: the mighty Panthers of Parma, Italy.

I've always enjoyed Grisham and this one did not disappoint. Good plot, although I can just about figure out what's going to happen, something changes. It's a good read (listen).

Mitch Rapp and his protege, Mike Nash, may have met their match. The CIA has detected and intercepted two terrorist cells, but a third is feared to be on the loose. Led by a dangerous mastermind obsessed with becoming the leader of al-Qaeda, this determined and terrifying group is about to descend on America.

    "Enjoyed it !"
    Overall

I've been following this series (Mitch Rapp character) for about five years and have enjoyed watching this character evolve. Vince Flynn is a good writer and understands the limitations on what a spy character can and can't do (they are not superman and they never get the girl at the end). The plots that Flynn uses are realistic and could happen today. George Guidall is an excellent narrator, using a mixture of voices that be differentiated from each other (see his other readings). If you like these types of reading start with Flynn's first book before you get this one, you might appreciate it more.

As the burning city of Acre falls from the hands of the West in 1291, a young Templar knight, his mentor, and a handful of others escape to the sea carrying a mysterious chest. In present day Manhattan, four masked horsemen dressed as Templar Knights steal a strange device. In the aftermath, an FBI investigation is led by anti-terrorist specialist Sean Reilly. Soon, he and archaeologist Tess Chaykin are drawn into the dark, hidden history of the crusading knights.

"Ok - strong start, very weak finish"
    Overall

The plot and the premise of the book is very interesting, which attracted me to it; but as you listen along it starts to fall apart and it becomes corny and could not wait for it to end – recommendation: I would not purchase this.

The first disturbing reports reached Delta Force Lieutenant Colonel Charley Castillo in the form of backchannel messages concerning covert U.S. intelligence assets working for a variety of agencies suddenly gone missing and then, suddenly, inexplicably, found dying. Or dead. One in Budapest, Hungary. One in Kiev, Ukraine. One in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, mere klicks from the Iran border.

    "Awful - boring and unrealistic"
    Overall

I started following this series three years ago and fairly enjoyed it - but the series has become ... boring and the characters so corny for an espionage novel. I regret purchasing this and I could not get through the first downloaded section (it is broken into three 6 hrs downloaded sections). If you like espionage, there are many better books out there – avoid this one.

I've always enjoyed the writings of George and this was very typical of her other books, very detailed and a good story line. This was also a very long audio book, but I certainly got my money's worth

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

    "Enjoyable"
    Overall

I didn't know what to expect. My family all read it and said it was similar to Harry Potter books, but it wasn't. Although it was enjoyable it was hard to follow because of names of places and people. The narrator was good and easy to listen to.
