"Typical"
A very standard Karen Kingsbury formatted book. Interesting characters that remind you of the person you've love to be, with the life you dream of living. Very spiritually uplifting, almost as if you're absorbing scripture and it's practical application in every page. This book tackles a topic that requires a strong stomach, but its a wonderful depiction of the grace of God, and I'm sure it has provided an immeasurable amount of healing in the lives of many.
"Who knows?"
I really tried to give this book a legitimate chance, even though I'm not usually interested in books with a timeframe outside of the past 20 years or so. Based on The Atonement Child and Redeeming Love, I figured I couldn't go wrong with FR. But I don't think I even made it into the 2nd hour of this book. I was bored out of my mind.
"Lackluster at best"
If you've read one DS book, you've read them all. Very repetitive, very cliche, and very boring. The story was not well developed and everything that happened was easily predictable. Not impressed.
"Blah"
A disappointment for sure. I didn't even finish listening, and HC is my favorite author. #FAIL
"The BEST"
This book is outstanding. It is very relatable, with amazingly developed characters, lots of unexpected twists, an inspiring and engaging storyline, and an ending that is heart-warming. This book challenges the Christian Church to be better, extend grace, and love people where they are at. My favorite book of all time.
"Great!"
The most impressive Jodi book, in my honest opinion. The story is rich in detail, depth, emotion, surprise, and irony. Its a page turner that you can't get enough of, and although the ending is wonderful, you will wish the story wasn't over yet. Highly recommended.
"Alright"
The concept of this story is engaging, and it does have a few surprises that keep you interested, but I was dissappointed with the lack of character development and untapped story-depth that could have resulted with such a controversial and engaging topic. Not a bad listen by any standard, but not my favorite either.
"Pretty good!"
This was my 1st Jodi listen, and my favorite. Great twists and turns that are unexpected.Very realistic and engaging portrayel of the character's feelings, experiences, and cirumstances. Captivating story with depth and fullness.
"YES!!!"
Although this story is nothing insanely twisted or surprising, it is very rich with cultural truth. Reality, in its naked ugliness is exposed, but its done tastefully. But its an uplifting listen. You become to love the characters. There are times when the main character rambles a little, but as soon as the story is redirected back to The Help, your soul will smile. Its not a page turner, but it does give you the warm and fuzzies. This book is a beautiful story of overcoming circumstances and achieving greatness. I've listened to it again and again, and I giggle every time whenever The Help chapters are playing.
"HORRIBLE"
I only picked this because of the rave reviews, but it was painfully boring to listen to. The story lacked substance, the characters were not very intersting, the book was morally crooked, and with only 90 minutes left to the book, I deleted it and washed my hands of it completely due to an awkward aura of demonic presence. Don't waste your money. HUGE mistake!
