Real life example of what it takes to be a leader - courage, perseverance, compassion, dedication. An inspiring story for all leaders.
I can't emphasize enough how much my husband and I enjoyed listening to this book. We laughed; we cried; we identified with so much of what Billy had to say. I can't imagine reading this book. The narration by the author, brought so much pleasure to the text!
An entertaining listen. The Help is still my favorite
Cora coming home and finding her husband. I didn't see that coming.
Birth control, homosexuality, unwed motherhood, orphans, adoption, child abuse, and more all part of the plot, and in the 20"s when those were "in the closet" topics. Entertaining, enjoyable.
My husband and I were both "glued" to this book, listening while we traveled. It tough to find books that we both enjoy.
Any historical fiction that prompts the reader to take a deeper look at the history of the period depicted earns, my respect. This is exactly what Fall of Giants did for me. I wanted to read more of what the historians have to say about the time period. Only reason I didn't give this novel 5 stars is because of the many characters and intertwined plot which make it hard, at times to follow. But well worth persevering!
My husband and I are avid audible listeners, especially when we travel. It is challenging to find a book that interests both of us. Historical fiction usually fits the bill. We enjoyed Innocent Traitor. It prompted discussion between us and interest in learning more about the time period. We questioned the truthfullness of the story and went further to learn more. We recommend Innocent Traitor for people like us!
I don't write reviews,so I'm compelled to share my thoughts. The Help is one of those rare books that leaves you thinking about the story, long after its over. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters. The narrators do an excellent job; the characters personalities come alive and seem real, as result of the narrators interpretation. Just an outstanding listen. I have recommended The Help to family and friends.
I am an avid Audible listener, but I found that listening to the Lost Symbol was challenging. There are many descriptions of diagrams and symbols that would better understood if seen. Wish I had read The Lost Symbol instead of listening to it.
