I started to listen after I saw the movie. I wanted more information. Love this book!!! I was a little skeptical of Scott Brick at first because I haven't heard him before, but he moves the story so much better than all the other samples I listened to.
I love the love hate relationship between all the characters. I have to listen to the rest of the series!
It took me TWO weeks to listen to a 10 hour book! Like everyone else. I’ve been waiting for a long time for this book to come out and it was a pain to listen to the new narrator. Love the book though. The story actual closed and explained a lot of questions I had and confirmed some theories.
If you want a good smooth listen, don’t get this book. The narrator’s voice was okay to listen to but his expressions and readings were VERY robotic. It felt like I had called for some service and was listening to the automated call center machine.
Maybe the publisher’s changed narrators because Brick didn’t want to do it anymore, fine… but the new guy should have done some research and, I don’t know, listen to at least one of the previous books to get a flow of the characters and the story. Kinda get an idea of what the customers have been listening to. Then make it better. I found myself yelling at the narrator about pronunciations of names, places, and items because it felt wrong the way the narrator read.
In summary…great ending, awful narration. Just buy the hard copy and read it yourself.
Story did not draw me in. I wanted to like it, but I didn't feel any connection to any of the main characters.
I couldn’t stop listening to the series and wanted to know the end. Halfway through this last book, it becomes predictable, but still a good story. I don’t have anything else to say except if you like post-apocalyptic stories, you will like this one.
This book mainly continues the story of Divergent. Not in a bad way, but same.
I expected some kind of Matrix like story, but it turns out much better. It’s a good, growing up story regarding decisions and consequences. I like the plot twists.
I enjoyed the narration. My favorite narrators were featured in this audible reading, but the story did not captivate or make me feel like I want more. This book, to me, feels like Star Wars meets Game of Thrones, but not as enticing as Game of Thrones. I didn't feel a connection with any of the main characters. I wasn't drawn into this book. I really wanted to like it, but just didn't.
The narrator is awful. The book is detailed in areas that don't need additional explanation, and lacking in others. Great concept, but written poorly. The movie is much better. Normally when I'm interested in a movie and there is a book, I listen to the book for kore details. Not so in his case. I couldn't even finish the first chapter.
I found it unusual that a Terry Brooks novel bored me during the first few lines, but once you get past the first chapter everything seems to go on as normal. Good story that eventually link into the Shannara series, but it took a little getting used to.
I did end up liking this book.
This book answered a lot of questions about the history of many of the characters in Sword of Shannara. Great prequel! Had to go back and re-listen to the original Shannara novels again.
I like listening to Scott Brick, he is able to make different characters sound like different people. He's a great narrator; his female voices are very believable.
Great continuation to the Quantum Thief. interesting ideas. Can't wait for the next installment.
