Agus, MD, one of the world’s leading cancer doctors, researchers, and technology innovators, tackles these fundamental questions, challenging long-held wisdoms and dismantling misperceptions about what “health” means.

What disappointed you about The End of Illness?

His big pitch is to sell you on getting your blood tested by his company. Most of the information he gives in the book that is practical/down to earth has already been reported in every day news reports. Learned very little except that he owns a company that tests blood and this will be the new medicine in the next generation.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    The reader was O.K.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The End of Illness?

Most of the entire first part.

    Any additional comments?

Not worth listening to the audio.

Yes. I learned about a very influential group that I had not heard about prior to listening.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Author. He has been quite a hero to write such a book

Have you listened to any of Peter Ganim’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

If you could give The True Story of the Bilderberg Group a new subtitle, what would it be?

    A must listen!

  • Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder

    Story
    (558)

In The Black Swan Taleb outlined a problem, and in Antifragile he offers a definitive solution: how to gain from disorder and chaos while being protected from fragilities and adverse events. For what Taleb calls the "antifragile" is actually beyond the robust, because it benefits from shocks, uncertainty, and stressors, just as human bones get stronger when subjected to stress and tension. The antifragile needs disorder in order to survive and flourish. Taleb stands uncertainty on its head, making it desirable, even necessary, and proposes that things be built in an antifragile manner.

Would you ever listen to anything by Nassim Nicholas Taleb again?

    Ablsolutely Not!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Extreme disappointment.

Chief Joseph, of the Nez Perce tribe, lived from 1840 to 1904. He became a legend through his heroic efforts to keep his people in their homeland in Oregon's Wallowa Valley. For years he tried to accommodate encroaching white men on his tribal lands, but finally gave up and attempted, in the fall of 1877, to lead his people safely to Canada.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book is to much like reading a history book. The book for the most part is dull.

What was most disappointing about Candy Moulton’s story?

In stead of writing the book like a history book, it would have been more interesting to tell it has a story. A living story--not a dull recounting of the historical facts.

A guide to crafting unforgettable, attention-grabbing business communications – from speeches and letters to business plans - using stories from the world's top business leaders. The world's foremost business leaders are also great storytellers. For example, industry titan Jack Welch has told how his mother instilled enough tough love and confidence in him to overcome the fact that he was the shortest kid in his class and had a severe stutter.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Spent more time telling really good stories. The stories were for the most part very short and not long enough to hold your interest.
