  • Touching the Earth: The Five Prostrations and Deep Relaxation

    • ABRIDGED (1 hr and 12 mins)
    • By Thich Nhat Hanh, Sister Chan Khong
    • Narrated By Thich Nhat Hanh, Sister Chan Khong

One of the most powerful acts of devotion is also one of the most simple: bowing down and surrendering to the earth. This is the basis for "The Five Prostrations", a time-honored Buddhist meditation practice that joins the mind and body. On Touching the Earth, Buddhist masters Thich Nhat Hanh and Sister Chan Khong update this ancient teaching for the modern student. You learn each phase of this practice, which will help empty your body of resentment while opening it to compassion for all life.

Barbara says: "background noises really distracting"
    "Love hearing Thich...the sister well"

I could listen to Thich for endless hours...and i already have. In this recording I loved hearing him introduce the prostrations...when sister Chan spoke..well it almost felt like a Saturday night live sketch...this could just be me... and unfair, but I just didn't connect to her..

  • Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 17 mins)
    • By Charlene Li, Josh Bernoff
    • Narrated By Josh Bernoff

A groundswell is sweeping through your customers. Right now, they are writing about your products on blogs and recutting your commercials on YouTube. They're defining you on Wikipedia and ganging up on you in social networking sites like Facebook. These are all elements of a social phenomenon - the groundswell - that has created a permanent shift in the way the world works. Most companies see it as a threat. It's time to see it an opportunity.

Justin says: "I help me I tried."
    "Great grounding on social media.."

Stays away from the tool focused obsession in social media and instead focuses on the core impact and underlying phenomenon of this huge culture changing trend. The message transcends the tools of today(which constantly change) and will be just as meaningful when a whole new set of tools kicks in..i disagree about the narration not being good..i liked hearing the author, he was connected to the content and had plenty of energy and conviction in his reading...a professional narrator might read professionally but not have a clue about what they were reading...

  • How Can I Get Through to You? Reconnecting Men and Women

    • ABRIDGED (4 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Terrence Real
    • Narrated By Terrence Real

Innovative, powerful, and eminently helpful, How Can I Get Through to You? is the book that every couple has been waiting for - and our culture needs. In it, Terrence Real offers a radical new vision of love and the practical tools with which to achieve it.

Tom Gunsmoke says: "Profound - for Men and Women"
"i will never see things the same"

Terrence Reale shares some of the deepest most profound influences western society puts on men and woman from birth. These influences sow the most persistent and damaging seeds of discontent in men and women by setting unrealistic(and sometimes dangerous)expectations that only the most motivated can overcome. This is a clear case where the audio book must be superior to the printed version; you can really feel the level of compassion he has for his subjects, which includes his readers. The author does an excellent job delivering on his mission to help us see how we have been unintentionally set up by our mothers, fathers, coaches and society to fail in our relationships and marriages. The author does this somehow without blame or guilt..a must for anyone wondering how relationships unravel even when we think we are doing the right thing.

  • Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart: 30 True Things You Need to Know Now

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Gordon Livingston
    • Narrated By James Jenner
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Full of things we may know but have not articulated to ourselves, Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart is a gentle and generous alternative to the trial-and-error learning that makes wisdom such an expensive commodity. For everyone who feels a sense of urgency that the clock ticks and still we aren't the person we'd like to be, it offers solace, guidance, and hope.

    T.L. says: "Not for the"
"a valuable perspective on our confused species"

i enjoyed listening to someone who could take such an experienced, compassionate yet very practical view on our thought processes and traps that are so common and block know these things is to at least know they exist, or even better to let go of our own fabricated dysfunction...and just live

  • Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By Larry Bossidy, Ram Charan
    • Narrated By John Bedford Lloyd
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The audio that shows how to get the job done and deliver results...whether you're running an entire company or in your first management job. Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan, who Jack Welch calls "a great practitioner and an insightful theorist," collaborate on a "compelling business story of 'how to get it done.'"

David says: "the triumph of bad design over sound contact"
    "a mixed bag"

geared for large companies with many layers. a few nuggets for small business owners. narrator uses a fair amount of consulteze blather but Bossidy's voice balances it out with straightforward delivery of ideas.
