In Chris Matthews’ extraordinary biography, we see this most beloved president in the company of friends. We see and feel him close-up, having fun and giving off that restlessness of his. We watch him navigate his life from privileged, rebellious youth to gutsy American president. We witness his bravery in war and selfless rescue of his PT boat crew. We watch JFK as a young politician learning to play hardball and watch him grow into the leader who averts a nuclear war.

What did you love best about Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero?

    TOO political, not enough meat

What other book might you compare Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero to and why?

I can't say, I don't read that many political books

What about Holter Graham’s performance did you like?

He did the dialects well and I felt like he knew the era very well, as well as the president!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - and NO WAY could I do that.

    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed learning the history very much! I just wish there was more detail about the LIFE of the Kennedy's and not SO much politics!!! That got rather draining! I wanted to leave it, but hoped that right around the corner I would get more 'juice'....never did.

Since rising out of the New York City streets over 25 years ago, Russell Simmons has helped create such ground breaking ventures as Def Jam Records, Phat Farm, and Def Comedy Jam, in the process becoming known the world over as "The CEO of Hip Hop". Russell might have helped introduce hip-hop to the world, but he credits his success to his belief in a strong set of principles, or laws, which he shares for the first time in this audio.

Would you consider the audio edition of Do You! to be better than the print version?

    maybe

Would you recommend Do You! to your friends? Why or why not?

    yes

What does Black Ice bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

That a person needs to look outside of the rap to see the deeper person

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Do You!?

    DO YOU! Be authentic

    Any additional comments?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Russell, and I am SO happy he was pushing yoga, gun control and the reasons for going vegan, as I am a vegetarian. I applaud him SO MUCH for backing those ~ however I think he could have gotten just as much done without PUSHING the rap artists and going 'black' on a lot of topics. I don't think that was necessary. I like rap a lot but I don't think all of them are as wonderful as he says they are.

During those four years, he went from being a reluctant guardian to a fiercely loyal watchdog and friend. Looking back, Clint Hill tells his story for the first time, offering a tender and tragic portrayal of how a Secret Service agent who started life in an orphanage became the most trusted man in the life of the First Lady who captivated first the nation and then the world.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! A lovely read! I enjoyed it very much and learned a lot more about the time during the Kennedy office.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mrs. Kennedy and Me?

I LOVE (& ride horses) so I was VERY thrilled to know how MUCH she rode....I knew she did, but not that much!

Which character – as performed by Jeremy Bobb – was your favorite?

    Clint Hill

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No.

    Any additional comments?

I initially selected the book because I was HOPING to learn about the inside scoop of JFK and how his extra 'activities' during his marriage affected Jackie O, but MUCH to my surprise, Clint Hill NEVER mentioned one speck of it!! At first I was super disappointed! But, then I quickly realized how wonderful Mr. Hill was and that THAT was NOT his reason for this book and HE WOULD NEVER GO THERE! And I am SURE he knew ALL ABOUT THEM! I appreciated that.

    CLOSE TO THE TOP!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Mostly because there were facts from before Obama was in office and from people he was dealing with - in the trenches. It really shed light on how he treats people.

Have you listened to any of John McLain’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No - I just wanted to merely be more informed about Obama & how he's messin gup this country.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Cry - Because if Obama gets in for ANOTHER 4 yrs, we are screwed!

    Any additional comments?

I just hope this gets read by as many Americans that can vote as possible!

In this remarkable dual memoir, film legend Martin Sheen and accomplished actor/filmmaker Emilio Estevez recount their lives as father and son. In alternating chapters—and in voices that are as eloquent as they are different—they narrate stories spanning more than 50 years of family history, and reflect on their journeys into two different kinds of faith.

I love them both, but I would have to say Emilio as I find myself similar to him in a lot of ways.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Nothing really stood out more than any other - they all were great!

On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

What did you like best about this story?

Learning about all the people - Louie was amazing! AND, at first, I was wondering WHY I needed to know so much detail about him about his early life - but it was pinnacle to know this for the later part of his life.

Which character – as performed by Edward Herrmann – was your favorite?

    LOUIE!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Gosh, there were so many times I cried and I was SO moved!

    Any additional comments?

I was given this book to read because I was at an extremely LOW point in my life and told I MUST READ THIS BOOK! ALL thru the book it was SO clear to me WHY she was SO right! Now, I look at my little problems in a whole new light!

What does Becca Battoe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have nothing to compare it to - she was ok

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I was horribly disappointed with the ending - CUT SHORT & sweet! Yet she tended to go on & on & on with those stupid emails, which became monotonous & I wanted to get past them. I would have rather the author spend more time on the ENDING!
