A BBC radio full-cast dramatisation of the first book in JRR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Brian Sibley's famous 1981 adaptation, starring Ian Holm and Michael Hordern, has been divided into three corresponding parts, with newly recorded beginning and end narration by Ian Holm.

Would you try another book from J. R. R Tolkien and/or the narrators?

J.R.R. Tolkien yes but not the narrators.

What could J. R. R Tolkien have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

He did it all. The narrators messed it up.

    Any additional comments?

This is not what you want. If you are looking for a good copy of Fellowship of the Ring, this is not it. Did not enjoy this. Where is the unabridged version?!

It is winter, 1553. Pursued by the Inquisition, Hannah Green, a 14-year-old Jewish girl, is forced to flee Spain with her father. But Hannah is no ordinary refugee. Her gift of "Sight," the ability to foresee the future, is priceless in the troubled times of the Tudor court. Hannah is adopted by the glamorous Robert Dudley, the charismatic son of King Edward's protector, who brings her to court as a "holy fool" for Queen Mary and, ultimately, Queen Elizabeth.
