"Could not continue listening"
I'm going to agree with Josaphine's review. The narrator was just not capable of keeping me interested in the story. Though she got through an hour of it, I lasted only about 20 mins. Purchase this one at your own risk my friends.
"What age group is this written for?"
The performance was very well done, however the story was... Who is this written for? The main character is a 14 yr old girl, surrounded by "death by sex fae" How is this appropriate? I didn't realize the main character was 14 when I purchased it, but kept listening thinking my daughter might like it, I will not give it to her. If you want to write Fairy Porn, write Fairy Porn, I have no bones with Meredith Gentry, but 14? Are you kidding me?
"Probably Adorable"
It seems very cute, likable characters, seems like a good story, but it has more of a older juvenile/young adult feel to it than I was looking for. I plan on handing it off to my daughter. I bet she will like it more than I did.
"Good, but maybe wait for a sale?"
Don't get me wrong the story is good, and I love Peter Clines, but the problem is that it is one short story ( like the beginning chapter or so of a novel) told in shorter stories in four points of view. I want to hear more of the story. Also, I have bought everything he has on Audible, and 2 of these shorter stories, the better ones actually, are included at the end of other works. So I think I would have been happier buying this if it was like, $5 or $6 as opposed to $11. Just sayin.
"I really wanted to like it"
I really really wanted to like it. I love zombie stories, but I fell into the classic "judging a book by it's cover" thing here. Great title, great cover, it MAY even be a great story, but the narrator is so boring I just can't get into it at all, which I think is terrible because zombies should never be boring. I should be afraid to go to sleep during a zombie story, not dozing off after 20 mins or so.
"Something Different and Wonderful"
I loved this, it is not your typical any kind of story, it is different and very entertaining. I'm definitely going after the whole series!
"Story vs Narrator"
I could not tell you if the story or the narrator was the problem, but I just could not listen to this. I'm going to try again, maybe in actual paperback, because it seems like a popular series so people must like it. Maybe I will find it is the narrator that could not keep my interest that way? Whatever the case, it was disappointing to not be able to get through an hour of it :/
"Actually scared me"
I loved this!!! The narrator was great, the details were awesome, this audiobook sucked me in completely. I was actually scared by the end of it, and avoided the second one until I went through some lighter stuff first. It has been a while since something like that has happened!
"A MUST Listen"
Great book, fantastic narrator! After listening to this book, I could not imagine reading the rest of the series myself. Scott Brick just gave Joe the perfect voice. I recommend the entire body of work. It's amazing, something I can and will listen to again.
"Need new characters"
While I LOVE the narrator, the book needs new characters. The names have been changed, and the location is different, but the main characters are the same as in her other books. Uber powerful, I can take care of myself, nasty beyond belief woman meets a man who is equally if differently as powerful who is completely smitten and patiently waits for her to realize she loves him. I was disappointed.
