An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

Extremely harsh story and Grisham does not hold back - this makes me wonder... who let him stand by their side to go through this experience? This book has ran the gamut with my emotions - highly recommended to you who can handle truth...

The killer escapes. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

I'm not digging this one and should have paid better attention to some of the other revues that compared it to Dr. Sleep - I didn't like that one either :( This one is sounding much more like a James Lee Burke or a "wanna be" James Lee Burke, I actually like his stories more than this one - it's nothing like a thriller at all. Don't waste your time on it if you're looking for a good thriller - keep looking.

After reading the other book by this author that was new to me I immediatly looked for more here on Audible and found this book. I loved it as much as the other - I like that this auther chooses not to make things easy for her characters and just in life - things don't always end happy. Again, it has some hard subject matter and anyone adverse to drugs, violence, and just plain harsh living might not like it all that much - I however LOVED IT as much as the first one - sad Audible doesn't have all her books on here.

Best-selling author Dorothy Koomson's novels have been translated into 28 languages. In The Ice Cream Girls, 18-year-old Serena Gorringe and 16-year-old Poppy Carlisle were tried for the murder of their teacher - but only Poppy was convicted of the crime. Twenty years later, Poppy is released from prison - and she's determined to force Serena to admit her part in the killing.

This book has some very hard to hear subject matter and I must say some of it was a bit too over the top. For me, the girls having the caring families that they did but then coming home with a multitude of some pretty serious injuries just doesn't jive for me. However, that being said I can see where predatory and self righteous thugs could and would inflict such pains. For me the writing and story line were enough to keep me constantly engrossed, enough so that I've now gone and gotten her other book that Audible has to offer and I'm just as excited to listen to it - hoping it keeps my interest just as much as this one did. I can't help but be sad for one of the characters in this book - you'll know who by the end. Highly recommended if you can handle the context.

Marnie Logan often feels like she's being watched: A warm breath on the back of her neck, or a shadow in the corner of her eye that vanishes when she turns her head. She has reason to be frightened. Her husband Daniel has inexplicably vanished, and the police have no leads in the case. Without proof of death or evidence of foul play, she can't access his bank accounts or his life insurance. Depressed and increasingly desperate, she seeks the help of clinical psychologist Joe O'Loughlin.

Always leave a little salt on the bread. Ikey Solomon's favorite saying is also his way of doing business, and in the business of thieving he's very successful indeed. Ikey's partner in crime is his mistress, the forthright Mary Abacus, until misfortune befalls them. They are parted and each must make the harsh journey from thriving nineteenth century London to the convict settlement of Van Diemen's Land.

I just finished book 2 and wrote a longer review - but for those that are considering this series but may hesitate given the length of each book - do yourself a favor, get this one and try it out.... if you hate it you can return it. I'm betting a good 98% of you will go on to be chomping at the bit for the next one and the next one and on and on. Having just finished 2 and sitting waiting for 3 to download to my Android - I'm having withdrawals already.

I can't say enough good things about this series - I'm completely enthralled in the history, the story and the absolutely amazing writing - all from a person that didn't start until mid-fifties! I don't want to put the book(s) down and so far - as soon as I've finished one I'm ready to jump into the next, well... more than ready, which for me, after listening to such a long book using the same narrator I'm usually a little burnt out and ready to have a different voice in my head :) - Not this time, it's all so perfectly done and I'm loving it. Also, I find it interesting how the author has woven in some hints on characters from other's work from this time period in history - it's been fun and I'm ready for 3 to finish downloading to my Android. NOW!!! Hurry up please and thank you.

I was so happy to finally get to listen to this book. I read this book years and years ago when it first came out by DK and absolutely LOVED it - it remained my most favorite book for a few decades. I was thrilled to see that it finally came to Audible and I could listen to it as I've done with some of my other favorites from my past. I was a little "iffy" at first by not being thrilled with the reader - but the story holds it's own and I'm happy to have experienced it again all these years later. I love when I share a good book with someone and they love it too - I've had that experience with this book many times since my first reading. I hope you have the same enjoyment if you choose to read it as I did then and now again :)

He lives in solitude beneath the city, an exile from society, which will destroy him if he is ever seen. She dwells in seclusion, a fugitive from enemies who will do her harm if she is ever found. But the bond between them runs deeper than the tragedies that have scarred their lives. Something more than chance - and nothing less than destiny - has brought them together in a world whose hour of reckoning is fast approaching.

I've listened to Dean Koontz and read any of his books I could find and have done so for years - he really started slipping a few years ago but I feel this one is back up almost to par with some of his earlier works. I very much enjoyed the narrator and will look him up to see what else he's done. If you're a Koontz fan I don't think you'll be disappointed - good read not his best but good and glad I tried it!

One caveat.... the ending was somewhat muddled to me and the bad guy gets off too easy.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, the tiny town of Big Stone Gap is home to some of the most charming eccentrics in the state. Ave Maria Mulligan is the town's self-proclaimed spinster, a thirty-five year old pharmacist with a "mountain girl's body and a flat behind." She lives an amiable life with good friends and lots of hobbies until the fateful day in 1978 when she suddenly discovers that she's not who she always thought she was.

In this heartbreakingly beautiful book of disillusioned intimacy and persistent yearning, beloved and celebrated author Andre Dubus III explores the bottomless needs and stubborn weaknesses of people seeking gratification in food and sex, work and love. In these linked novellas in which characters walk out the back door of one story and into the next, love is "dirty" - tangled up with need, power, boredom, ego, fear, and fantasy.
