    I'm 38, and a geek, so I'm probably the target audience for this book, and I loved it unashamedly. I downloaded it to my droid and took it everywhere I went over 3 days, listening whenever I had a bit of time to spare. The references come thick and fast, but there were few I couldn't place. It was a little like Snow Crash meets Neuromancer meets Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which isn't too surprising, as it both draws on and references all three. In addition, Will Wheaton's narration is great. I enjoyed listening to him narrate as much as I enjoyed the story itself.

    In The Wind Through the Keyhole, Stephen King has returned to the rich landscape of Mid-World. This story within a story within a story finds Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, in his early days during the guilt-ridden year following his mother’s death. Sent by his father to investigate evidence of a murderous shape-shifter, a "skin-man", Roland takes charge of Bill Streeter, a brave but terrified boy who is the sole surviving witness to the beast’s most recent slaughter.

    What did you love best about The Wind Through the Keyhole?

    Background information on the world of the gunslinger. And I liked the story within a story within a story framework. But then I'm odd that way.


    What other book might you compare The Wind Through the Keyhole to and why?

    I suppose it has a resemblance to the format of Wizard and Glass.


    Did Stephen King do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

    I adore King, but his reading leaves something to be desired.


    Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Only to the narration. I missed George Guidall. I miss Frank Muller even more, but he's no longer with us.


    Any additional comments?

    Other than wishing King wasn't the narrator, I thought the book was a nice addition to the Dark Tower series.
