The story is a simple one, but one gets into it and it makes one think. It took me a while to get into it but it was narrated at a comforting pace and is short enough to not labour.
This was a most enjoyable read. I wished it carried on longer, yet it ends perfectly.
I really enjoyed this book. The second part seems almost unnecessary because the first half is almost enough of a story, with interesting elements of South African history told in a non-judgmental way. None the less it is a very enjoyable listen. I enjoy Humphrey Bower as narrator.
I enjoyed the naration. Somehow the narator gets the feeling of a cold wet Sweden across, which sets the mood for the book. The story is well thought out and the plot intense. A most enjoyable experience.
Rene Auberjonois narrates this book so well, I can't imagine hearing Pentagast in anyone else's voice! But I'm most certainly going to get more of these books, starting with number one, Relic. I enjoyed Fever Dream because to me it was interesting, original and not formulaic. I love Pentagast's character.
This book is very well narrated, it captures your attention and Jacob, the difficult old man, crept into my heart. Thoroughly enjoyed his world.
I loved the way Tom Sellwood narrated this book. He really brings the story to life in the way he has different tones of voice, and accents for each of the characters. Bernard Cornwell has also become one of my favourite authors because he so cleverly creates a story within the story of history, that captures my imagination, and causes me to want to know more about the actual history. I love the characters in this series of books. Brilliant!
