just purchased this today & have been listening for a few hours, the pace of the narrator is a little slower compared to what i am used but he is excellent for this story & voices are great, i have tried "reading" grapes of wrath many times but could never get through it.
the only draw back for this audio book is the startling harmonica music at the end of each chapter, it is so loud it shakes you out of the mood the narrator has created, i had to rush to turn down the volume & then turn it back up to hear the narrator again.
i would already have given this 5 stars but the music is just so annoying, i am listening to it on my kindle it may be better if i listen to it on my laptop when i can possibly have the volume spikes adjusted.
overall excellent for only 1 credit
the playback (audio) was horrible
I truly hope they can figure out a way to clean this book up a bit because it was not worth trying to listen to, often had to skip ahead to find some spots that were not that bad, in the end i gave up
yes, basil Rathbone is the best
I am one of the oddballs that loves the old commercials but this book had the same commercial every time, alas that is how it was back then one sponsor for the same show every week
I would not listen to this narrator again she sounded breathless and the timing was way off
truly enjoyed the story big difference from the movie but that was what made it fun, they sure made it vanilla and innocent for the movie
timing was off
I think I will download it for kindle to read, this is a book you can enjoy more than once
I wish I had just read the book, the narrator was so overacted.
I was very happy to see other narrators for the other Lincoln Rhyme novels if they had the Connor O'Brien was the narrator for all of them I would have stopped at this book
you really would be better off reading the book and then moving on to the other books, I just listened to the book again and could not even get through it to finish it this second time due to the narrator
the background information was well done
truly the information was interesting but the narrator killed it for me
nadia may is a great narrator for anything british. I have this audio book w another narrator and the story dragged on, but w this narrator it flew by and was very enjoyable
if you try this book and like it with this narrator try THE ENCHANTED APRIL it is amazingly narrated by May.
yes... I love the original movie and enjoyed that some of the same stars narrated this short story.
the narrators and the commercials....I am a classic movie buff & loves old advertising spots.
for the price these are some great short stories, perfect for a short ride or trip.
it was a refreshing change from the regular audio books I listen to. if you are a classic movie buff this rocks, also I have parents that remember when these were on the radio and told me about them. it is almost a trip back in time when technology was young.
audiobooks almost always work better for me, though this would be a great companion to the written version (I often have both)
I have been listening to many audio books about Henry the VIII lately, my favorite is the Autobiography of Henry the VIII, this book tells a very different story from the view point of his wives and those who knew them, this book is a great companion to the above mentioned book.
Alison Weir really does her homework.
great narration and story, this author is exceptional.
the story was simply boring i have almost every ann rule book and i am a huge fan but this was so bad i could not finish it just terrible
not written the main story
yes i think laural is an amazing narrator
i expected this book to be better but it was like one big run on sentence i loved the narrator was great for His Way (kitty kelly) but i am not sure if this book ruined even her narration.
i purchased the book partly for the narrator and was really excited to listen to it but i just cant finish it w out falling asleep.
