This is a book about 10 "Great Ideas". Each chapter is an attempt to savor one idea that has been discovered by several of the world's civilizations - to question it in light of what we now know from scientific research, and to extract from it the lessons that still apply to our modern lives.

David says: "Exceptional synthesis of psychology and philosophy"
    "Must Read"
    Overall

This book was enlightening, informing and entertaining. It is by far the best nonfiction listening I have ever experienced. Moreover I found the information in it delightful conversation starters. His analysis of philosophical, religeous, and social history as it relates to modern research on the function of the brain was astounding. Whether you agree with him or not, this is one you have to listen to.

As a medical anthropologist, Dr. Meg Jordan has traveled the world studying how we get sick and how we get well. While she recognizes the usefulness of Western medicine, she sees the limits of its "adrenaline based, parts oriented" approach. Her commitment to integrating East and West promises a truly person-based medicine in which the patient is an active participant and the goal is wellness rather than cure.

Waiting to hear more on the brilliant effort to interpret eastern & western practioners perspective on healing.

Richard Novak is a modern-day Everyman, a middle-aged divorce trading stocks out of his home. He has done such a good job getting his life under control that he needs no one, except his trainer, nutritionist, and housekeeper. He is functionally dead and doesn't even notice until two incidents (an attack of intense pain that lands him in the emergency room and the discovery of an expanding sinkhole outside his house) conspire to hurl him back into the world.

Serge is back with a bullet, torn between homicide and souvenirs. So is Coleman, torn between getting hammered and getting more hammered. Then there's good ol' Jim Davenport, the E-Team, the Diaz Brothers, and Johnny Vegas, the Accidental Virgin, cranking up the fevered action as the pot boils over on a street called Lobster Lane.

    Jose says: "Serge rules!"
    "Florida Fun Humor"
    Overall

This was an experience in exploring the absurd humor of Florida. A little heavy on the details and descriptions of some adult activities, so I had to be careful where I was when listening to the book. On the other hand, I recognized places, locations and people. The unbelieveable was from the news.

In the latest addition to his best selling and critically acclaimed Don't Know Much About® series, Kenneth Davis delivers a lively and clear guide to the discoveries, theories, and real people that have shaped space exploration from the beginning of civilization to the present. He looks at issues that go beyond the bounds of simple "Science 101" and asks the kinds of questions we may have wanted to ask back in school but didn't have the nerve.

This is another one in a series of books for those of us who had boring teachers in middle school. It gives an interesting informative presentation on the universe. Even if you listened in school 30 years ago there is enough new discoveries to make this a good listen.

    Overall

In the past few years I have learned that we are responsible for our own health. Traditional physicians are often righteously motivated, but narrowly trained. This is a good starting point to gain knowledge of how you can take care of yourself and be the healthiest you can be. Learn about vitamins, diet, exercise and more that will give you control of your future. I was surprised by the amount of new information provided. Definitely listen to it, maybe even more than once.

This was my favorite book of the year. The story of a boy with a dream, and the man who followed it. BRAVO! I absolutely loved learning about life in DC, and what it takes for someone to still honor the innner "me". The people who participated in the Cork Boat were lucky to have such a unique project to pull them together during such difficult times. I will be waiting for the sequel, bottle caps to the moon!

Dixie Cash novels score critical accolades while slaying readers with witty mysteries starring the Domestic Equalizers, aka Debbie Sue Overstreet and her best friend, Edwina. In this down-home whodunit, the gals from Salt Lick, Texas, wrangle with a mystery involving a bull-riding "champeen" and an Internet stalker.

This is a light fun read and a good romance. It had interesting charactors and excellent detail regarding the rodeo life and life in the west. I would recommend this for a listen and relax day.

    "Dragon Dreams"
    Overall

This is another favorite author of mine from my adolescence. I am rereading them with my ears and finding them more enjoyable than ever. The wonderful tales thread together to create a world of dragons. Yet the story is still a story of human relations, charactors, emotions, life and society. In each book we can find our selves and those we know.
