I do not like King's books but when I see the ratings sometimes I try it out. Yes, I have been disappointed....lord knows, but not this time. Ok it gets a bit far fetched, ok the whole thing is but it gets far fetched within being far fetched....yes that's right. I like it, I really liked it and would recommend it. It's a fun story, rated R though
This is a strange tale which requires more than the standard science fiction/end of world reader to enjoy. I wasn't that impressed with it as it was just too much of a liberal arts science fiction novel for me.
I know this will sound crazy to "non zombie lovers" but this is the first zombie book that I could actually believe. I do like end of world novels and they are all good in their own way, but this author has added a twist to the zombie scenario that makes this a "could happen" saga. If you have any interest in end of world and/or zombie novels I would highly recommend this series. I ended up listening to all four novels on audible in a little over a week, I found it very difficult to shut off, that to me is a good indication of a great story line. The only thing I really didn't like.....book 5 is not out there yet. You won't be sorry you tried this book out. Caution - rated R
This is a good book but not for everyone, its a fun book but it does take a great deal of concentration and patience. This is a warning from the past and I only had enough time to write this limited review. Good luck
I think this book was an excellent guide book for what could happen in a pandemic. It was well written, and captured the neighood relationships good and bad. I would recommend this book as a glimpse into what it would be like type of thing. It is not a zombie book, nor is it an end of world book. It's a book that describes the few months the country/community would have to endure in a pandemic situation. Good story, not great but good.
If you imagine you are reading this novel for the first time and are living in the time period, it would scare you and probably stick with you for your entire life i.e. The Exorsist for those living in the mid 70's. If you can imagine the horror they felt, it helps as you listen. However, because this is the 21'st century the story is tame by today's standards and to be honest, there were several places where the story line became cluttered. It's a classic, there is no doubt but a classic that has seen better days. I just couldn't give it much more than a 3 star rating. Good enough to spend a credit but not much more.
This book deserves a written review. I enjoyed this book very much but I can’t give it a full 5 star rating, rather a 4.5. The premise of the book was unique and I thought I had guessed the ending about mid way through but I was only half right. The ending though is where I had to knock off the half point. It seemed to me the book was so well thought out and the author actually rushed the ending or rather it didn’t seem that logical to me. Overall though, the hype of the book is deserved, it was a good book but just not quite where it would be an awesome book that you would tell people “you have to read this”.
This book was definately worth the credit. It moved into the top 50 audible books that I have listened to. It's kind of a dark hillbilly tale, with folklore so it's probably not for everyone but you will find yourself pulling for both sides (good and evil) and when you finish you won't know exactly which side is which. I will give this book two thumbs up.
This book reminded me of several other books designed for the teen audience. It's an interesting and fresh concept but it could have been 20 hours shorter. It's worth the credit I suppose, just so you can say I did it, and you probably won't be sorry but it takes a real effort to stick with it. Again, it's a book designed for a young audience in my opinion.....not a great book by any means, but worth a credit I guess.
I assume there will be more books in this series, it's not a life changer but it is a very fun listen and I would recommend the series without any hesitation. Again its not a top 10 series of historical fiction but it is top 50.
This was a fun book, the writing was not great but because of the concept it was ok. But 1663 wasn't worth the purchase, he lost his way in that sequel and I would stop here at this book in the series. Should have a rating of 3.5.
