New York, 2120: America has been decimated, wiped out from the second Civil War. In this postapocalyptic world, survivors are few and far between. And most of those who do survive are members of violent gangs, predators who live in the big cities. They patrol the countryside looking for slaves, for fresh victims to bring back into the city for their favorite death sport: Arena One. The death stadium is where opponents are made to fight to the death, in the most barbaric of ways. There is only one rule to the arena: no one survives. Ever.

    Megan Bramel says: "Huge disappointment."

If you could sum up Arena One: Slaverunners in three words, what would they be?

    What a ride!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Pt. 1: Brooke, because her father was a marine and taught her at a young age how to fight and take care of herself. So she is does whatever she can to protect and rescue her younger sister Bree from the slaverunners after they took her from their mountain home. Then she meets Ben, another survivor, whose brother has also been taken. This is when they team up to get her sister and his brother back. If, they don't get killed or put into the arena to fight and die first. Pt. 2: When trying to save Bree and Ben's brother, Brooke and Ben are caught by the slaverunners and are made to fight in the arena. It is amazing that they even survive. That is when they meet Logan, a former slaverunner, and he helps them to escape. All the while Brooke is finding that she has feelings for Ben and Logan, which confuses her. This is a fast and crazy ride and Morgan Rice has done a fantastic job. It's like one of the best roller coaster rides that I have ever been on, and I can't wait to read the second book. This a must read for any Morgan Rice fan. I give it 2 tumbs up. GO Morgan!

What about Emily Gittelman’s performance did you like?

I like her voice she is very clear and easy to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, being a novel I knew it would take more than one sitting to listen to.

    Any additional comments?

I liked the flow of the book. It kept me interested to the very end. And, it kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen further down the line. It is also something you can actually see happening in the world today in the very near future.

Would you listen to Betrayed again? Why?

Yes! I have a TBI (trumatic brain injury) from a car accident and my reading is slow and to understand I sometimes have to read it over again. Listening to it, I understand without forgetting what has just been said and understanding is a lot easier for me.

What other book might you compare Betrayed to and why?

The first book in the Vampire Journals series " Turned". It was the first audio book I have ever listened to.

What about Emily Gittelman’s performance did you like?

I like that she really got into the character's voices and attitudes. Her voice was very nice to listen to and I understood everything she was saying.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Are you kidding? It is the perfect compliment to the first two books in this series. Waiting to get the next book in the series is always a drag. It ended with a cliff hanger, and I wanted to know the outcome, like, yesterday! This book left me smiling, feeling sad, and hopeful. Polly makes me laugh, Blake makes you wonder, and Cain is a bully.

    Any additional comments?

If you haven't read the first two books in this series, after reading Betrayed, you will have to go out and get the first two. There is so much action in this book, that you have to pay attention. And of course Caitlin is still confused about Caleb's feelings for her after she see's Sera. And Samantha is trying to keep Sam alive, but is it for her purposes or his welfare? Kyle has the sword now and Caleb has to get it back, but will he die in the process? Caitlin has a surprise for Caleb, but will she actually get to tell him? You have to read the book to find out. I guarantee this book will keep your attention from page one all the way to the end. I give Betrayed five stars. You have got to read it.

In Loved (Book 2 in the Vampire Journals), Caitlin and Caleb embark together on their quest to find the one object that can stop the imminent vampire and human war: the lost sword. An object of vampire lore, there is grave doubt over whether it even exists. If there is any hope of finding it, they must first trace Caitlin's ancestry. Is she really the One? Their search begins with finding Caitlin's father. Who was he? Why did he abandon her?

What made the experience of listening to Loved the most enjoyable?

It is wonderful not to have to read the words and paragraphs over and over again before I understand what has been said. I have a learning disability and I have difficulty reading and comprehending all at the same time.Listening to it is so much better.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Loved?

When Caitlin and Caleb finally admitted that they loved each other and made love for the first time. And when Caleb finally remembered where he knew her from. Like Deja Vous. And poor Sam, has a new girlfriend and does not know that she is a vampire and has ulterior motives for keeping him alive. Also, when Caitlin gets stabbed with the sword.

What about Brianna Knickerbocker’s performance did you like?

She is pleasant to listen too and she makes the words come to life when she reads. She even changes the sound of her voice for the different characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Caitlin and Caleb finally admitted that they loved each other and made love for the first time. And, when poor desperate Sam finally meets his supposed father and finds out that he is a child molester and not his real father. What a relief that was.

    Any additional comments?

I am just so addicted to this series. The characters are great. The book flows seamlessly onto the next book with all the twists and turns. I love it! There is a huge mystery surrounding the search for Caitlin's father and the artifact that Caleb is searching for that you can't help getting engrossed in the book. There is also more action in this book and right when you are totally lost in the book, you come to the end and realize you don't have the next book in the series. Bummer! And I want to know did Caleb go back on his word and change Caitlin? I guess we will have to find out in the next book.Loved (Book #2 in the Vampire Journals)

What did you love best about Turned?

I have a disability and being able to listen to the book instead of reading it was an awesome experience for me.

What other book might you compare Turned to and why?

This is the first book I have had the pleasure to listen to and it was easier than taking the time to read it the first time.

What does Brianna Knickerbocker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I sometimes miss words or phrases and have to read them more than once to be able to understand the whole meaning of the sentences. It was easier to listen to it because if I needed to listen to it again i could just hit the back button and it automatically holds my place for me to pick it up again. Brianna was a great reader, I could understand everything she said. She also has a very pleasing voice. She does a great job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I loved this book and I cant wait to be able to hear book number two in the Vampire Journals.Morgan is an awesome writer and leaves you wanting more. The book captivated me from beginning to end and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Once I got started, I didn't want to stop listening. This book is like going on one of the best roller coaster rides ever. All of my feelings came into play and it left me wanting to know more about the characters. I can actually relate to them.. Kudo's to Morgan for keeping me entertained.

    Any additional comments?

This book is a must read for anyone who is into the Vampire genre. You get a little action, some mystery and a love story to boot. This book has it all. I give it 5 stars.
