Would you consider the audio edition of Sh-t My Dad Says to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version, but Sean Schemmel is the single best narrator EVER. He MADE this book soooo much funnier. I don't know if Justin Halpern picked him specifically, but he was PERFECT

What other book might you compare Sh-t My Dad Says to and why?

I Suck At Girls, same narrator, same author, and almost as funny.

What does Sean Schemmel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He did so many HILARIOUS voices, it was like listening to 10 people read this

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Pretty much everytime the dad spoke, I was moved to tears.....of LAUGHTER.

A beautiful and distinguished family. A private island. A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy. A group of four friends - the Liars - whose friendship turns destructive. A revolution. An accident. A secret. Lies upon lies. True love. The truth. We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from National Book Award finalist and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

It just was boring. I found myself thinking about almost anything BUT the story so often, I had to go back over and over, only to find I hadn't missed anything.

What was most disappointing about E. Lockhart’s story?

The BORING fairytales added in. So unnecessary. Also, this wasn't a YA book, really, it was way too adult for 11-13 year olds

    Which scene was your favorite?

Honestly the ended was the only part that was slightly interesting. But...we've all seen that movie before....

What character would you cut from We Were Liars?

All of the horrible self centered adults.

The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

What did you like best about The Goldfinch? What did you like least?

I liked the first half.... I hated the last half

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

    EDIT!!!!

What about David Pittu’s performance did you like?

He had a great voice and did fantastic accents!

Could you see The Goldfinch being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Only if they edit the story down some, good lord it had too much that didn't matter.

Set over the course of one school year, in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love - and just how hard it pulled you under.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I don't think anyone should read it. The female character was so incredibly self-loathing that is was a disgrace. And her mom was pathetic. Truly the worst female roles I've seen in a novel that is primarily read by teenaged girls

Would you ever listen to anything by Rainbow Rowell again?

    No!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Male narrator was ok, female narrator was as monotone as the crap she was reading.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Eleanor & Park?

Pretty much all the scenes where Eleanor hates herself. But then there wouldn't be anything left. Oh! That's a good thing!

What did you love best about Columbine?

I thought it told the real story of the events, based on years and years of research

What was one of the most memorable moments of Columbine?

Some of the ways the media lied and people just completely accepted it as truth. (shouldn't be a surprise, I guess)

    Which scene was your favorite?

Strange question for this book, isn't it?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made me feel for the people, want to know how they are today.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I thought the narrators were amazing. The female narrator switched her tone about halfway through and was like listening to a completely different person, just like the character.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gone Girl?

The complete change in personality of the characters.

What does Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires."

What would have made Bared to You better?

I know it was supposed to be an erotic novel, but the sex scenes were so ridiculously over the top that I wanted to stab myself in the face. I was driving when I listened so I couldn't do that.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Something with a plot.

Which character – as performed by Jill Redfield – was your favorite?

Jill Redfield WAS a good narrator. Not her fault the book was the worst book I ever read. It made 50 Shades seem worthy of a Pulitzer prize for fiction

What character would you cut from Bared to You?

    Anyone that was breathing.

    Any additional comments?

The writer should be encouraged to have as much sex as she makes the characters have, and then let's see if she survives to write more trash.

Just simple little stories, but told with hilarious insights gained thru the years.

The dad! But also the friend from little league. OMG that part had my husband and I laughing so hard we nearly crashed the car.

Catherine has been enjoying the single life for long enough to know a good catch when she sees one. Gorgeous, charismatic, spontaneous – Lee seems almost too perfect to be true. And her friends clearly agree, as each in turn falls under his spell. But there is a darker side to Lee. His erratic, controlling and sometimes frightening behaviour means that Catherine is increasingly isolated. Driven into the darkest corner of her world, and trusting no one, she plans a meticulous escape.
