Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Would you try another book from Gillian Flynn and/or the narrators?

    Yes

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Expected a twist, but was a bit disappointed when I found out what it was

What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?

    Pretty Average, nothing spectacular

Was Dark Places worth the listening time?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

Great Story, read this because of the author's awesome job with 'Gone Girl'. This wasn't as good but it was a good read with a twist at the end

Stephen King and Peter Straub reintroduce you to Jack Sawyer of The Talisman, once a precocious boy traversing the Territories to save his mother and her "twinner," now a retired homicide detective drawn back to his past.

Okay so I read the Talisman as a teenager and absolutely loved the adventures of Travelling Jack. I picked Black House cause I thought it would be an awesome sequel to the book I thoroughly enjoyed as a kid...yea...NO...big disappointment....first off there are endless pointless narratives at the beginning of this book...way too abstract....Grown up Jack first off is nothing like the character from the Talisman (maybe thats intended by the Authors) but yea this is not a continuation at all. Things dont really pick up until you're halfway into the book. Then there are constant referrals to the Talisman but it doesnt read like a sequel so didnt know what to make of that. I started this and whenever I got new credit I would stop reading and move on to something else. I was forced to finish cause I had nothing to read. I dont know if that says anything....

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

I actually wasn't too optimistic about this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story telling is awesome and the twists and turns are remarkable. I even suggested this to friends who don't read or listen to novels and they loved it. You wanna listen to a twisted, suspense thriller of a book....yea add this to your cart immediately....
