"Culture Smulcher"
I have to say that I loved the first two installments in the Troy Rising series but "The Hot Gate" left me seriously dissappointed. One can only take so much discussion about the latino / anglo cultural differences which seem take up several hours of this story line. Listen to the first hour and that last 3 hours and you won't miss anything but the frustration of waiting for a story to develope. Praying that book 4 is better,
"You'll laugh..you'll cry.....I did."
Roller coaster ride
A poor comparison, but the only books I can compare A Memory Of Light to would the the mega battle scenes from the Sci-Fi Lensman Series by E.E. Doc Smith where millions of battleships and dreadnoughts would fight to the death with no quarter asked or given.
An exhausting book that will drive you to the depths of depression then slowly but surely pull you back to the light. The "Final Battle" was just PERFECT.
"A Bit Disappointing"
The narration was very well done as I find most of the books from Audible are.
The story takes place in an interesting universe and I was entertained by the technology that was developed and used. But I'd read this story / plot years ago in a book by Tom Clancy called
"A fun ride ??????????"
A fun ride...NOT ! The only thing entertaining about this book is the ability of the reader to use the various accents to perfection...which is why I give it the single star. Based on the previous review I stuck to this book waiting for an entertaining story that never developed. I'll be avoiding the sequel like the plague.
