It is 1910, the age of flying machines is still in its infancy, and newspaper publisher Preston Whiteway is offering $50,000 for the first daring aviator to cross America in less than 50 days. He is even sponsoring one of the prime candidates - an intrepid woman named Josephine Frost - and that's where Bell, chief investigator for the Van Dorn Detective Agency, comes in.

This was a rollicking adventure. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that the author says "tall detective" it seems in every other sentence. Love the Isaac Bell character.

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

I loved this story and the character who is new to me. I would've given it 5 stars if not for all the swearing in the story. The narrator did well with it.

From number-one New York Times best-selling authors Preston & Child, an all-new short story featuring Agent Pendergast, available only as an ebook and audio download. In New Orleans' French Quarter, the Tooth Fairy isn't a benevolent sprite who slips money under your pillow at night.... He's a mysterious old recluse who must be appeased with teeth - lest he extract retribution. When young Diogenes Pendergast loses a tooth, however, his skeptical older brother Aloysius is determined to put the legend to the test...with dire consequences.

Judith says: "Great Pendergast short story, don't use a credit"

Would you listen to Extraction again? Why?

Yes. "Odo" is really enjoyable to listen to and Preston and Child are two of my favorite writers.

A compelling story of intrigue, suspense, and revelation, The Celestine Prophecy begins when an ancient manuscript is found amid ruins deep in the Peruvian jungle. Revealing nine key insights that are critical to the evolution of the human race, it contains secrets that are changing the world, and reveals how to make connections to events happening in listeners' lives right now.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I really don't want to finish listening to Lou Diamond Phillips which is crazy! But the subject seems to be just dragging on.

Would you ever listen to anything by James Redfield again?

    Probably not.

Have you listened to any of Lou Diamond Phillips’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but I would if the story is good.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    boredom

    Any additional comments?

I may go back and listen to more and see if it gets any better....
