  • Underworld

    • UNABRIDGED (31 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Don DeLillo
    • Narrated By Richard Poe
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Nick Shay and Klara Sax knew each other once, intimately, and they meet again in the American desert. He is trying to outdistance the crucial events of his early life, haunted by the hard logic of loss and by the echo of a gunshot in a basement room. She is an artist who has made a blood struggle for independence.

Ruth Ann Orlansky says: "CYBEX burned into my eyes"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I don't know who would like this book. It is very hard to follow and, quite frankly, not that interesting. I got through 3rd download and just didn't care anymore.

Would you ever listen to anything by Don DeLillo again?

    Probably not.

Which character – as performed by Richard Poe – was your favorite?

I thought the narrator did a good job with all of the characters. It's the story that falls short.

    Any additional comments?

Don't bother. Sorry I wasted a credit on this book.

  • Infected: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Scott Sigler
    • Narrated By Scott Sigler

Across America a mysterious disease is turning ordinary people into raving, paranoid murderers who inflict brutal horrors on strangers, themselves, and even their own families.

Jessica says: "Confused? This review might help."
    "Good story, terrible narrator!"
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Sigler?

Anyone else!! This narrator sounds very inexperienced. He is sing songy, all his sentences ending with a down lilt. The voice of Margaret is the worst hispanic accent I've ever heard Even the southern accent of Dew makes him sound goofy instead of smooth & dangerous.
I am finding their voices distracting from the story. Scott Sigler is an awesome writer, but a narrator he is not!

  • Shackled

    • UNABRIDGED (24 hrs and 34 mins)
    • By Ray Garton
    • Narrated By Seth Michael Donsky
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Children disappear all the time. It's in the news every day. Where do they go? What happens to them? Who has taken them? While covering a story for his tabloid newspaper, reporter Bentley Noble accidentally stumbles onto something else entirely...a story about something so unspeakable, he doesn't know if anyone will believe it...a story that pulls him down into the depths of evil and depravity and threatens his very life.

    Dannielle says: "Disappointed"
    "great story, horrible narrator!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I think I might recommend this book to a friend, but I would say that you can only enjoy it if you can get past the narration. If you can get past the cartoonish characterizations. Every character sounds russian, or sort of british. The laughs are all the same for every character, sort of maniacal!

Would you be willing to try another one of Seth Michael Donsky’s performances?

Only if it had another narrator.

  • Absolution Gap

    • UNABRIDGED (27 hrs and 10 mins)
    • By Alastair Reynolds
    • Narrated By John Lee
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The Inhibitors were designed to eliminate any life-form reaching a certain level of intelligence - and they've targeted humanity. War veteran Clavain and a ragtag group of refugees have fled into hiding. Their leadership is faltering, and their situation is growing more desperate. But their little colony has just received an unexpected visitor: an avenging angel with the power to lead mankind to safety---or draw down its darkest enemy.

wendy says: "better than absolution gap"

I enjoy science fiction and I am not stupid, but I could not follow this book & enjoy it! I started over twice trying to keep straight and understand the plot line and characters. I gave up, I wish I hadn't wasted a credit. I feel like there must have been a prequel to this book.

  • Incubus Dreams: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter: Book 12

    • UNABRIDGED (27 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Laurell K. Hamilton
    • Narrated By Cynthia Holloway
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

As consultant to the Regional Preternatural Crime Investigation Unit, Anita's called in on what appears to be a case involving a serial killer - a vampire serial killer - who may be preying on strippers. She's sure that none of the local vamps are responsible - but her judgment may be clouded by a conflict of interest.

masino says: "Anita Blake XXX, book 11-13 waste of time & Money"
    "Incubus Dreams"

This is the first book that I have by this author. I will not get another one. This was listed under contemporary fantasy. I have read vampire books and loved the stories. This book is 80% descriptive sexual acts, 20% actual story line. It got boring real fast, I wish I could trade it in for a different book, I'm not going to finish it. :(

  • Judas Unchained

    • UNABRIDGED (41 hrs and 3 mins)
    • By Peter F. Hamilton
    • Narrated By John Lee
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Robust, peaceful, and confident, the Commonwealth dispatched a ship to investigate the mystery of a disappearing star, only to inadvertently unleash a predatory alien species that turned on its liberators, striking hard, fast, and utterly without mercy. The Prime are the Commonwealth's worst nightmare. Coexistence is impossible with the technologically advanced aliens, who are genetically hardwired to exterminate all other forms of life.

    Susan says: "Exceptionally great book"
    "Hard to follow"

I didn't realize when I purhased this book that there was a prequil. I want to like this story but it has been hard to follow. This story takes up where the previous book, Pandora's Box, left off. Since I didn't read the first book I am having a hard time keeping characters straight, and the story line. I am lost much of the time because the story bounces around between groups of characters. I am about 10 hours into the 44, Im going to stop and wait for Pandora's box to become available so I can enjoy this book more fully.

  • Look Homeward, Angel

    • UNABRIDGED (26 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Thomas Wolfe
    • Narrated By Scott Sowers
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

The works of Thomas Wolfe cemented his legacy as one of the very best of the American Southern writers. Wolfe's largely autobiographical novel features Eugene Gant, who pines for a more expansive life after being born to a father whose bouts of maniacal raving are fueled by a prodigious appetite for drink.

Eric says: "One Of The Gret Novels Of The 20th Century"
    "Too many boring details!!!"

I want to like this book but the story gets lost in the abundance of annoying details!! I have listened to 3 of the 4 sections and don't know if I can take anymore. I'll bet the actual story is about 10 hours long.

  • Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 41 mins)
    • By Gregory Maguire
    • Narrated By John McDonough
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Suzn F says: "I was not sure for a while then......."
    "Very Weird!"

I thought this was one of the strangest stories I have ever heard! Odd plot line, nothing like I expected. The only reason I finished it is because I am going to see the play. I hope the play is better than the book, I paid $135 for my ticket!

  • The Migrant

    • UNABRIDGED (29 hrs and 46 mins)
    • By Nicholas Sheridan Stanton
    • Narrated By Paul Michael Garcia

From one coast to the other, to the far side of the globe, three diverse characters follow paths that will mysteriously connect: Tina Lopez, endowed with a special gift from God; Ethan Kelly, a young Irish-American priest-in-training; and K.C. Littleton, who will prove that old adage, "Be careful what you wish for." All will discover a new appreciation for faith, forgiveness, and family.

    Kimberly says: "great story"
    "Uplifting Story"

I enjoyed this book very much. The characters are human and devine. A definate christian slant with real world personalities. The characters all come together nicely.
