This book brought me into another world, and kept me excited throughout. I actually listened to this Book at work, while doing my price changing work while my store is closed. Every time i got off work, i hated having to stop at that chapter and wait till next week to listen to more. I didn't want to listen to it while i was off, because then i would have nothing left to listen to at work, and hanging tags all night long gets really boring if you don't have something good to listen to. It took me 3 work days to finish this book, but when i was done i was really wanting more.

I am very much looking forward to the next book in the trilogy. This book is very well written and exciting throughout. It is filled with emotion as well. It really takes you into their world and lets you feel what the 3 main characters feel. At times, i felt like i was there with them and traveling on their journey with them. When writing reviews i worry to much about giving away to much information about the book, so i generally don't give to much length about what happens in the book.

So, to sum it up, these 3 kids are on a journey of fate, which they are not informed of. They find themselves separated at times and are forced to continue on their journey without their siblings and continue their search for the emerald atlas, while trying to keep it out of the oppositions hands at the same time. The sibling squabbling between the younger 2 siblings brings much comic relief at times to lighten the mood.

I really enjoyed listening to this book, and Jim Dale did another fantastic job in narrating as he usually does.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This book really takes you into the authors world. You relate well to the characters and want to know more of their story. I am glad this is just the beginning to this series because i really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these characters.

What did you like best about this story?

My favorite thing about this book, was actually a character. Kalidan was what sold this book for me. Don't get me wrong, the other characters were good enough to keep the story going for me, but i always found that whenever they switched to the other characters in the different chapters, i found myself wanting them to be shorter and just hurry back to the storyline of Kalidan. Kalidan's whole story was more exciting and interesting to me. I also was found of his bridge crew and their deeds. The only character really that i wasn't that found of, was Shallan's storyline. To me it was not as enthralling as the others. I do admit it was getting better towards the end, it was just took a really long time to get there. That is the one thing that has me worried a bit. I was reading online that the next book in the series was going to focus on her character more than the others. If this is true, i may find myself disappointed with the next book, because i was really looking forward to finding out what was going to happen next with Kalidan, now that he is a free man again.

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer – was your favorite?

Well i think the above stats that clearly. Since without this character i might not have enjoyed the book as much as i did. Kalidan Stormblessed was definitively my favorite.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I would have to say it wasn't really a moment, but the whole entirety of Kalidan's story. I know i have been saying Kaldian this and Kalidan that, but his character truly is what made me love this book. I just don't think it would be as popular as it is, if they were to take his character out and just focus on the other two storylines.

    Any additional comments?

If you love a classic epic fantasy, than this is definitely well worth the listen.

Fiver could sense danger. Something terrible was going to happen to the warren; he felt sure of it. They had to leave immediately. So begins a long and perilous journey of survival for a small band of rabbits. As the rabbits skirt danger at every turn, we become acquainted with the band, its humorous characters, and its compelling culture, complete with its own folk history and mythos.

Would you listen to Watership Down again? Why?

Yes, Sometime in the future, when i run out of other books to listen to, i will most likely listen to this again. His book reminds me of my favorite author's books. I am a Brian Jacques fan, and this has a familiar feel to it. It reminds me of the redwall series. Surprisingly it is not very childish at all. It is a story that people of all ages can enjoy. Before i got into the redwall series, i probably would not have picked this up. I use to interpret books about animals, as being for children. However, if they are written well enough, no matter what a book is about, it can entertain an audience of all ages.

What other book might you compare Watership Down to and why?

Well as i stated above, i would compare it to the books in the redwall series. If you like books about animals going on adventures, with plenty of action sequences, then this is the book for you.

Which character – as performed by Ralph Cosham – was your favorite?

I would have to say Fiver. It seems to me he gets overlooked at times, not just in the book, but in peoples opinions of their favorite characters as well. I was a little upset, how after they escaped their warren, he kinda took a backseat to bigwig, and hazel. Bigwig was their enforcer/bodyguard, and Hazel was their leader. Yet if it wasn't for Fiver, none of them would even be alive right now. Quite often throughout the book, they continuously ignore Fiver, no matter how many times he is right about his predictions.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this book while i was at work doing price changes. I only did price changes once a week and it was the only day i was allowed to listen to my own devices while at work so i had to pace myself. I always hated when i got done, because yes, i did want to keep listening. However, if i finished it all in one day, i would not have had anything to listen to the next couple of weeks during that one night doing price changes. And it gets really boring just hanging tags without having something other than music to listen to. However, now i no longer do price changes and just listen to them in my free time at home. So if i was listening now, i would probably have finished it in the first to days instead of over 3-4 weeks span.

    Any additional comments?

The only other thing i can say about this book is, i wish that it was a series. Then i could have more great stories to listen to in the future.

A city has many lives and layers. London has more than most. A 12-year-old boy named George Chapman is about to find this out the hard way. On a school trip he's punished for something he didn't do. In a tiny act of rebellion, he lashes out at a small carving on the wall - unexpectedly breaking it off. And then something horrible does happen: a stone pterodactyl unpeels form the wall and starts chasing him. George is already running before his mind starts trying to tell him that this is impossible!

    Overall

For now i am a bit disappointed in this book. I was listening to this while i work, since i work after my store is closed on Tuesday nights, so we are aloud to bring in iPods and the such. I listened for about 1 hour before i stopped it. I hope it gets better later on but right now it did not give me any enjoyment at all.

During the first 6 chapters or so, there was not much excitement. I was not moved by the story nor was i excited to find out what was going to happen next. I was just eagerly waiting to turn it off and listen to something else.

I mainly purchased this due to the fact that Jim Dale was narrating this. Ever since the harry potter series, he has become one of my favorite book narrators. However, even his great narrating was not enough to save this book for me.

I am aspiring to become a writer myself, so maybe that is why i have noticed the dull descriptions and unimaginative writing style. I know my first book probably won't be the best, since i am still learning. However, this aspiration has lead me to listen to a lot of audio books, and read more books as well. Unfortunately, I did not get sucked into this book, like i did with the previous book i listened to, The Emerald Atlas, A very enjoyable book also narrated by Jim Dale.

So all in all, I might give it another chance later, and change my mind and edit this review. However, for now, since it didn't even draw me in within the first 6 chapters, i can not give it a better review.
