"This series just keeps getting better!"
At first I wasn't sure how I felt about the author switching his focus on a supporting character from the Monster Hunter series, but it was genious and I hope he continues writing this way. I'm a huge fan and can't wait to see what's next!
"Fun read!"
This was a fun listen. Not too deep or thought-inducing, but fun and entertaining enought that I've listened to the entire series.
"Wonderful series!"
I bought this book based on the reviews and number of stars. I kept coming back to it over and over, month after month, but I just wasn't sure so I kept choosing other books. I wish I'd bought it ages ago because it was exciting, well-written and kept me listening long after I should have been asleep.
I enjoyed the unique story. With the market being flooded with urban fantasy, eveyone is writing werewolf and vampire books, and while many are great reads, this series took the theme in a completely different direction and I loved it!
I've never heard an Oliver Wyman narration before, but he's wonderful and did a fantastic job.
This book made me laugh hysterically, cry in outrage and cheer out loud!
I've now listened to the entire series available on Audible and hope there will be more.
"Not Larry Correia's best work."
I couldn't bear to listen to this book and after an hour of trying, I gave up and deleted it. I'm not sure how good the book was because I couldn't get past the voice assigned to the lead character. Bronson Pinchot made the lead character sound so slow and stupid that it was frustrating. I LOVED the Monster Hunter books and bought this one based on those. I wish I'd saved my credit for something better. Maybe in written form it's a better read.
"Charming!"
The Hollows series is funny, thrilling, edgy and well-written. It's Mercy Thompson meets Sookie Stackhouse and I am happy I stumbled across this series in an Audible Sale. Marguerite Gavin is a wonderful narrator and I hope she narrates the entire series.
"A Series to Die For"
I LOVE this series! I'm sure the publisher had a good reason for making the mid-series narrator change; however, Gigi Bermingham was not the best choice. Her voices are okay, but her mispronounciations made it difficult to continue listening.
"Many pros with a few cons"
Though off to what can only be referred to as a predictable and cheesy start, the book was well-written and very enjoyable. I felt as if I got to know the characters and I was sad when the book ended. Though more than 24 hours in length, I was left wanting more.
My only issue with this book are the strange inserts such as yoga classes for vampires, which were a waste of paper to write and left me thinking "what the heck was the point of that?" LIttle things like that scattered throughout the book served only to diminish the story, not add to it.
The narrator did a wonderful job with the voices and accents and I look forward to the next installment of this series.
"Killing me with laughter"
I LOVE this series! There are no deep plots and the series isn't destined to become fodder for high school English teachers, but it's light-hearted and hysterically funny. These books make me laugh until I cry and it's been a long time since a book has made me laugh out loud so many times that my child wanted to know what I was reading and if they could read it too!
