I am a professional driver and therefore spend a lot of time on the road. Audible has been a great source of entertainment for me.

  • Black Widow: Elemental Assassin, Book 12

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 17 mins)
    • By Jennifer Estep
    • Narrated By Lauren Fortgang

There’s nothing worse than a cruel, cunning enemy with time to kill - and my murder to plan. With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit.

Felicia The Geeky Blogger says: "Fun!"
    "Excellently performed."

Lauren channels the spirit of Jane perfectly. I cannot think of anyone more enjoyable to listen to. You get to see Gin and the struggles that she has been dealing with come to a boil, and just how deep the corruption goes within the city. Good read.

  • The Fall of Five: Lorien Legacies, Book 4

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Pittacus Lore
    • Narrated By Neil Kaplan, Marisol Ramirez, Liam Aiken
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"I thought things would change when I found the others. We would stop running. We would fight the Mogadorians. And we would win. But I was wrong. Even though we have come together, we barely escaped from the Mogadorians with our lives. And now we're in hiding, trying to figure out our next move. The six of us are powerful - but we're not yet strong enough to take on their entire army. We haven't discovered the full extent of our Legacies. We haven't learned to work together. And there's still so much that we don't know about the Elders or their plan for us."

Adedayo Makinde says: "Pretty horrible development"
"I now know why there are only 11 of these lorians."
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes...and I only say this because I am waiting for the conclusion of the story. I am hoping that all these pieces will make a wonderful whole.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am patiently awaiting the release of Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. I am a big fan:)

    Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the dramatic sacrifice that one of the ten made. I don't wish to spoil anything by details but one of the ten attacks another, and yet another steps in the way of the killing blow... and the one who attacked is totally shattered by this emotionally.

Was The Fall of Five worth the listening time?

Yes....but just barely. The betrayer is indeed obvious. They tried to throw ya off but it was a weak diversion. I don't know what kind of brainwashing they did to him but it is indeed deep. It does raise the question if you have read all the books then you start to wonder if the lorians deserved what they got. Sure they were good to the environment on their world, but they did seem to enslave the mogodorians. At least that is the impression that I got. Now the mogs took it a little far when they annihilated ALL the lorians, but they may have had cause. I really hate the way some newer authors leave the book off in a cliff hanger. This book feels like two or three chapters of a real book. lol. Reminds me of the house of night series..... *shiver* lol.

    Any additional comments?

To the author..... make your books longer darn you:P Love the idea, the characters (even though you kill them a little too freely sometimes) I know it is a good book when you feel emotions for the characters there in, but I just wish there were more to each book. For the Reader: I would read this series but maybe wait until the series is finished or suffer the wait until the next me....LoL:)

  • Cast in Courtlight: Chronicles of Elantra, Book 2

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Michelle Sagara
    • Narrated By Khristine Hvam
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In Elantra, a job well done is rewarded with a more dangerous task. So after defeating a dark evil, Kaylin Neya goes before the Barrani High Court, where a misspoken word brings sure death. Kaylin's never been known for her grace or manners, but the High Lord's heir is suspiciously ill, and Kaylin's healing magic is the only shot at saving him - if she can dodge the traps laid for her.

Jessica says: "I love this series!"
"The Heroine is a Feisty One:)"
If you could sum up Cast in Courtlight in three words, what would they be?

    Mysterious Foreshadowing Illuminating

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cast in Courtlight?

There is a part where Kaylin (sp heard the book, never saw the spelling for her name.) gained herself a name, which by rote implies that she is now Immortal, because mortals don't have NAMES (the deep can bind you ones). But at the time she also grabbed a second name, which is a key element in this book.

What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She totally gets the attitude of Kaylin, she personifies her completely to the extent that you start feeling her angst against things she cannot control. *lol*

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Hrmm....No. I did get a little sad when the new mother was chosen, and was glad when the new lord of the court came forth, but no real extremes.

    Any additional comments?

This series is getting interesting. Kaylin seems almost a force of nature. A natural power check on the re-awakening of the ancients perhaps. I don't know, but look forward to book three. :)

  • Hidden: A House of Night Novel, Book 10

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 23 mins)
    • By P. C. Cast, Kristin Cast
    • Narrated By Caitlin Davies
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Neferet’s true nature has been revealed to the Vampyre High Council, so Zoey and the gang might finally get some help in defending themselves and their beloved school against a gathering evil that grows stronger every day. And they’ll need it, because Neferet’s not going down without a fight. Chaos reigns at the House of Night.

Mary says: "Getting tired, but still entertaining."
    "Great Book!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. It is a good book that has lots of strife, coming of age problems such as friends growing apart, faith in friends, and of coarse Nix!

What other book might you compare Hidden to and why?

I am not sure. Hidden is pretty unique in my opinion.

What does Caitlin Davies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She gives personality to the characters with the inflections of her voice that really show just how much of a not-nice person Aphrodite is, yet you DO get a feeling that there is a nice person just underneath the surface that is just waiting to get out. I hope that a confrontation with her nasty parents will somehow bring about this flowering of her personality and show just how special she truely is.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Of coarse I am a bus driver so I got lots of time to listen to it in once

    Any additional comments?

The thing I really liked about this book that is slightly different than the other House of Night books is that it really felt like a whole book. When I have read some of the others I get to the end and I am like WAIT!! That is it?? They are going to leave it THERE!!! This book has a good resolution, and still leaves you expecting something more, but yet leaves you with a satisfaction of things done. I would certainly read it again! :) I am sad that the next installment will not be out til 2013 though:(
