No. The narration was annoying, and the emphasis on guilt over our food choices I feel would cause people to shut out the possibility of going even vegetarian.

No. I think she rehashes information over and over, and says very little that I did not already know. Her delivery is poor, and places too much emphasis on guilt as well as coming across as morally superior.

In this delivery, all aspects of a good reading were delivered. There was expressiveness, differentiation of characters, and exceptional performance.

But much like a broken arm, it was not quite the same. That was the fatal mistake.
Fans want the story delivered in the same package, otherwise it is like breaking in a new body; it doesn't work...reflect on what Lucchio lost in switching bodies.

Normally, I find the overall plot of a romance to be very dry and boring, and the characters two dimensional... and that just barely. Nalini Singh has created in this series not only a plot and a set of idiosyncratic characters that I cannot entirely predict, but several sets of individual subcultures in the framework of a parallel reality with the question of humaniod ethics and the concept of basic freedom hanging in the balance; all this together with plot twists that keep me listening and hanging on every word. I especially appreciate that her eventual lovers are able to explore their own misgivings about themselves and one another, continually having to make compromises, setting limits and challenging one another as a 'real' couple would. Bravo, Ms. Singh, and my congratulations on Angela Dawe's exceptional delivery!

This is just awful. From predictable characters (the male and female lead being so alike in habit and thought as to only be distinguised by gender, eyecolor, skin tone and size) to the authors obvious green agenda, this book is painful to listen to. Not that I am against green technology, and I do support organic, but with this much, she should have set it in a horticultural lab, or hybrid transportation's R&D. Perhaps two scientists going at it intellectually,arousal sparking though debate... oh wait! They would have to have a difference of opinion to have a debate! Silly me! What kind of romance would have a difference of opinion between the male and female leads?

I also have a problem with the completely unflawed "Immortals": basically a cleaned up vampire that still needs blood... just not enough to be anything more than erotic in an s&m sort of way. I could see the plot as it unfolded, and swear that I could write schlock like this... if I could respect myself in the morning....

The reader wasn't much better; I think if anything, her delivery of this bad material made it one of the most kitschy things I have ever heard.

Admittedly, I do not usually read or listen to paranormal romance, and would not have, if it wasn't for the crazy sale going on at the time. But really; this was so god-awful! Have some respect for your audience, and at least give us characters with more than one dimension! There are outright fairy tales with more depth than this book.

Perhaps if the underlying story was developed more, this book could have been interesting, but I doubt it. I understand this is essentially a a low-brow romance, but the author could have used more than stock cliche`s throughout an entire book.The characters were barely discernable from one another beyond the physical description and both they and the plot hardly made two dimentions. Overall, it was so predictable that I was near tears by the end. The nearest comparison I have to listening to this book ( or the idea of actually reading it) is of slogging through lowtide mud. The paranormal idea may have suffered less in another writer's hands. My advice to her is to invest in a thesaurus.

The narrator's ' me Tarzan, you Jane' delivery only compounded the pain of the entire experience. Why anyone would move to book two is beyond my poor ability to understand.

If there was one thing I would change, it would be the Narrator. I just could not get past her delivery of the character dialog. She really should limit herself to text books... maybe some self help books...

yes... even though I found many of her devices unbelivable (such as her protagonist suddenly becoming a martial artist in some cases)

oh.. a different Narrator!

It inspired me to wait for another cheap sale for book 2, as it has the same Narrator
