The year is 2025. The Running Man is America's favorite television game show. Ben Richards is the program's latest contestant-and the Hunters' latest target in a rigged game of death.

This is a classic and gripping story, but Audible made a bad mistake by adding a comment by Stephen King BEFORE the book begins. In it he reveals the ending. Make sure you skip this, and come back to it at the end.

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

High hopes dashed. I love long stories, but only when each detail adds to the whole, like a brick in a magnificent castle. This was not Stephen King -- this was self-indulgent drivel. And the editor should be ashamed as well. Don't waste your credit(s).

In the ruthless arena of King Henry VIII's court, only one man dares to gamble his life to win the king's favor and ascend to the heights of political powerEngland in the 1520s is a heartbeat from disaster. If the king dies without a male heir, the country could be destroyed by civil war. Henry VIII wants to annul his marriage of twenty years, and marry Anne Boleyn.

    S. Marie says: "A unique perspective of history"
    "A massive disappointment"
    Overall

I love historical fiction and this book is set in a fascinating period. The writer has clearly done her homework and the research is impressive. But, quite simply, she has forgotten to think up a story. After all the hype, this book was the most boring and disappointing listen I have experienced. Absolutely nothing happens. The only good thing about it was the reader -- would love to hear more from him.
