August 6, 1943: In his brief career in the Office of Strategic Services, 24-year-old Cletus Frade has already been involved in a lot of unusual situations, but nothing like the one he's in now, standing with a German lieutenant colonel named Wilhelm Frogger in a Mississippi prisoner-of-war detention facility.

Yes there are a lot of characters in this story, but each one is fleshed out to be a complete person. Granted, I did get a little confused with the code names Teapot, Teacup, etc., but it fit the plot. The base story is not that complex but the interaction of the characters requires the listener to pay attention.
My only complaint is the fact that Audible refuses to indicate the numerical sequence of books in a series. Had I known I missed one of the series I would have bought it first. Audible just lost a sale because I won't read a story backwards.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

    I'd rather plant daisies.

Would you recommend The Disaster Diaries to your friends? Why or why not?

yes because they are going to die.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

not bad for A DEAD GUY!

What else would you have wanted to know about Sam Sheridan’s life?

This man has prepaired himself the best he can. But the Fact is We All Die in the end. Doubt it? Name one person born 130 years ago that has NOT died.

    Any additional comments?

This was a very educational book. I have used many ideas in this book to prepare my Family for the coming destruction. We now have generator to run the frig. for my beer.
Also have a manual reload station for 9mm and 45 cal. But I don't think any of his right wingnut Ideas are true. I bet there are people out there who don't think GLOBALWARMING is real either. But what if it's true. We are all Wingnuts.

Based on the true story of Alexander Selkirk, who survived alone for almost five years on an uninhabited island off the coast of Chile, The Mysterious Island is considered by many to be Jules Verne’s masterpiece. “Wide-eyed mid-nineteenth-century humanistic optimism in a breezy, blissfully readable translation by Stump” (Kirkus Reviews), here is the enthralling tale of five men and a dog who land in a balloon on a faraway, fantastic island of bewildering goings-on and their struggle to survive....

In a profound, funny, and beautifully rendered portrait of a beloved companion, bestselling novelist Dean Koontz remembers the golden retriever who changed his life. A retired service dog, Trixie was three when Dean and his wife, Gerda, welcomed her into their home. She was superbly trained, but her greatest gifts couldn’t be taught: her keen intelligence, her innate joy, and an uncanny knack for living in the moment.

Would you listen to A Big Little Life again? Why?

No. I heard it the first time.

What other book might you compare A Big Little Life to and why?

I would compare it to The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich because it's never been done before. This is a good story enjoy it for what it is.

Which character – as performed by Christopher Lane – was your favorite?

    I liked the squeeky toy.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    I broke out in hives.

    Any additional comments?

WARNING!!! Dog Lovers DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK you will cry.
Dean opens his life in this book more than any author I have ever read. This is about his outlook on life. And there is a dog. I wish I could be his neighbor except for all the dog poop. Listen to the book and you'll understand.

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

yes it helped me understand that my life could be worse.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

ENDING? There is no ending. I have listened to all 5 books and I still have no idea where this story is going. It's like Days of Our Lives with swords. Don't worry if you pass out while listening you'll be able to keep up with the non existant plot when you run off the road and wake up.

What aspect of Roy Dotrice’s performance would you have changed?

Roy, we should do drinks. You're a good guy and you did a good job. I listened to the story not the voices.

Was A Dance with Dragons worth the listening time?

Yes it was like elevator music in the car. It kept me from running the Bluehairs off the road.

    Any additional comments?

This series is a very complex story that is difficult to follow and impossible to predict. I'm sure there are people out there that can explain the plot but I'm not one of them. If your life is so bad that you need to zone out and escape into another, this is the way to do it. But undestand it is pointless.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It was an education in what almost works.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Stop reading and do the show.

Did George Carlin Reads to You inspire you to do anything?

    yes! Avoid my cousin.

    Any additional comments?

George has some great stuff he uses in his shows. I mean rolling on the floor FUNNY. This is 7 hours of the other stuff. It's like going on a road trip with that cousin that was funny at the wedding reception last year, but now you're stuck in the car with him for SEVEN F'N HOURS.

  • Crota: A Novel

It is called Crota...and it has awakened. Sheriff Skip Harding is called out to investigate a double homicide unlike any he has seen before. The bodies have been torn to pieces in the woods. Some think it's a bear. But others whisper something different. "It is the Crota," they say, - the great beast of Native American legend that one day will reawaken. Now that day has arrived.

    Evelyn says: "Amazing story!"
    "Dean Koontz meets Tony Hillerman"
    Overall

The literary elite might find faults with this work but I found it to be a very good story. It is an intersting combination of Native American lore and modern day mystery. If you enjoy either Koontz or Hillerman you will enjoy this one. I look forward to more of this authors work.
