Nursing wealthy businessman Chicago DuBois back to health was the least Loretta Lovelace figured she could do. After all, it was her bet that set off Loretta’s stalker - and put Madison’s husband at death’s door. And with Madison out of the country, Loretta couldn’t resist looking after Chicago’s interests and reigniting his passion for life - in and out of bed. But now Madison wants to take back what’s no longer hers, and that’s a mistake Loretta plans to make her regret. With a baby on the way and a family empire to save, Madison knows it’s past time to make some tough decisions.

Tosha says: "Just Ok. Ameture writing"
"Great sequel to "If I Can't Have You""
What did you love best about I’d Rather Be with You?

The twist of the new protagonist opposed to when we were first introduced to all the characters in the first book.

What did you like best about this story?

Grandville character... I almost laughed ever time he said something!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

    Nothing, he was great.

If you could take any character from I’d Rather Be with You out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Chicago! Seems like a real gentle man that tries to do right by everyone.

    Any additional comments?

    Can't wait for the sequel!

    V Hunter says: "LOVE IT!!!"
"This was a very good read."
If you could sum up Destiny's Embrace in three words, what would they be?

    Great, read it!

    Any additional comments?

I was a little hesitant at first when I read the summary because of the setting era of the book, but the authors descriptive details and ability to be a great storyteller kept me fully engaged!

    • Narrated By Hillary Hawkins

True friends help you through the consequences of poor judgment when no one else will. Best friends Gabby, Maxine, and Joy protect each other at all costs, even if it means keeping secrets that turn their lives upside down. Gabby has no boundaries when it comes to getting what she wants. She pulls out every trick in the book to keep her daughter's married father out of their lives but keep his money in her bank account...

Wilbur says: "Narrator captured my attention. (EXCELLENT!)"
    "The narrator was terrible!"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Another narrator and more realistic reactions to certain situations of the characters. The narrator did not do the book justice at all. Although I hated the the readers voice and the way she changed her voice to read for each character made it even harder to deal with it but the story held my interest to bear through it.

What was most disappointing about Monica Mathis-Stowe’s story?

A little more realism to some of the 3 ladies situations....such as the reaction of the long term boyfriend when she didn't agree to marry him because of her mother.... The whole "he said through clenched teeth" etc and the way the narrator played it out was just awful. The character was represented in a different light and all if a sudden they he kept changing like Dr Jeckle and Mr. Hyde because of the way it was presented to us by the performance of the narrator

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Hillary Hawkins?

    Yes, Yes, Yes!

  • Still a Friend Of Mine

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 46 mins)
    • By Jennifer Harper
    • Narrated By Jennifer Harper

Jennifer Harper breaks new ground in her fast-paced, scandalously entertaining novel. Listeners will be amazed by the way Harper weaves this juicy tale of betrayal, love, and friendship told in a witty style. Harper has a fresh, engaging voice that will intrigue, delight, and challenge listeners. Still a Friend of Mine is a fresh, enthralling, and witty tale that follows the journey of two best friends from college through their scandals, dating escapades, and family drama until a man comes between them.

    "Still a Friend of Mine"

This story line is okay but the recording is terrible. Sounds like this was a low budget recording that was recorded out of someone's home. As the author/reader reads the story she starts and stops in some places and you can hear how the recording stops and starts. The reading of the story did not have a good flow to it at all. An okay story but the reading of the book took a lot from it, because the concentration was toward the awful reading at times more the story itself.

Since failing to break up her best friend's marriage and fleeing Los Angeles, Jasmine is a changed woman and a Christian. She vows to attend church every Sunday, swears off married men, and begins her search for the soul mate she is sure God has on hold for her. Now living in the Big Apple, she has shed 25 pounds, shaved 10 years off her age, and filled her expensive apartment with designer clothes, all to begin her man-finding mission.

"Good Story Not so Good Narration"

I had this book downloaded for about 3 months until I could bring myself to continue to listen to the narrator. The book is a very good book but the narration of this book was poor. The sound is bad and it sounds like the narrator is in a hollow room. The narrator herself is reading like when you are in school and the teacher asks someone to read the next paragraph. Yeah, that bad! There is hardly any transition from one character to the next. The reading is very monotone and it is read as if there are no
punctuation in the sentence into another...and another. Sometimes the narrator stumbles on words. I highly recommend the book because it is a good read but not the audio recording.
