I'd definitely think twice about it (that sounds harsher than I mean it to but I can't think of how to reword it).
Maybe not so much as an audio book. I feel that the content of this book didn't suit an audio book style reading of it. Felt quite dry and drawn out... was a struggle for me to listen to the end (but did so as it was a book recommended very strongly to me by others in the startup community). I think in the end it really wasn't a book suited to being narrated? Otherwise I'm not sure what it could have been :/
I'm not sure really! He read it clearly and quite well. I just found the content a bit dull to listen to.
There are a lot of questions that require further research, things they still don't know. I'd like to see the stats for things a few years later to see how findings are holding up.
I'd recommend getting a physical copy. More of a book to skim read and visually see than one to listen to.
The Great Courses is a pretty neat series, however the clapping at the start and end of every chapter drives me nuts.
None in particular as it was a non-fiction rather than story book.
I liked quite a few of the stories told in the audio book, he uses examples well and I think overall the chapters with examples and stories drew me in a lot more. They'd all be my favourite.
I felt it did drag on a bit but I did gain some useful insights into directing my creativity better.
Gotta say, Professor Gerard Puccio's voice sounded like I was listening to Vince Vaughn mixed with a bit of Barack Obama teach me about creativity :P
I'd recommend it to friends looking for inspiration, motivation and ideas on how to keep up their creativity and work in it as a profession. Why? I found the stories and such promote all the necessities to successful creativity in a really nice and clear way.
She uses a variety of examples and explains things really well. It's a good book on reflecting and learning from a fellow creative's experiences as she explains her own mistakes, pitfalls and areas of success. I liked the examples of other creatives she also researched and read about.
I enjoyed the stories on classical composers and their working habits the most.
I'm seriously considering her idea of putting each project into its own box/boxes to keep a log of everything associated to it. That was a neat idea.
The narrator did a really good job too, it was one of those cases she sounded like she truly did author the book. Loved it.
I'd recommend it as I found it an intriguing look into Donald Trump's mentality and enjoyed the stories of his life and decisions he made.
It gave me a new insight into who he was and the mindset he has which has helped him come back from ruin and ultimately be incredibly successful.
I enjoyed listening to his story of going onto Saturday Night Live and what it was like.
I listened to it in about 24 hours. Wasn't one sitting but quite close to it!
I own both the print version and the audio edition but had read the book first, listening to the audio book many years later. Both are extremely useful and equally powerful. The audio edition (like all audio editions) is hard to skim read and use as a reference but I found Eckhart Tolle brings true enthusiasm and soul in his reading of it :)
I think the biggest take away was realising that you aren't the sum of your thoughts but you are the being who is aware of those thoughts. For someone who hadn't heard the concept explained like that when I first read the book, it was quite transformative.
This is the first audio book I've read of his.
It is inspiring. Well written, brilliant stories and pointers which really help pull you into his world and see why his points are so crucial to helping people live more enriching lives.
If you haven't read any of his work and really want to regain a bit of control over the wild emotional ride we live each day with stress, worry, anger and negativity, listen to this book. It's truly worth it.
