When the historic Hopkins ferry was raised from the bottom of the lake, who would have thought they were literally raising the dead! But there it was—a skeleton—right before their eyes. Unfortunately, the evidence is slim and soggy: the boat sank in 1949, the victim on board was a woman, and near the body is a piece of unidentifiable lacelike fabric. Sounds like a job for Betsy Devonshire. Betsy knows there's more to this story than what’s on the surface.

Nothing great about this series but they are light and easy. I really like them after listening or reading a book I found challenging or difficult in some way. They are like brain candy. If you aren't interested in craft these might bore you silly.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

In The Lonely Polygamist, Udall pens a tragicomic tale starring Golden Richards - who despite having four wives and 28 children, hasn’t quite found fulfillment in life. Like other men in the midst of a mid-life crisis, Golden feels as though he’s drowning. His wives squabble amongst themselves, and he hardly has time for all his children - least of all the 11-year-old who’s taken a keen interest in explosives.

I thought this was well written and well read. It wasn't as I expected at all. It was odd to feel such sympathy for a man who practices polygamy which I think goes to show how well written it was. I loved how the story from told by different characters. There were some interesting twists and turns. It is a great book, a terrific summer holiday read.

Jonathan Safran Foer's best-selling debut novel, Everything Is Illuminated, wowed critics on its way to winning several literary prizes, including Book of the Year honors from the Los Angeles Times. It has been published in 24 countries and will soon be a major motion picture. Foer's talent continues to shine in this sometimes hilarious and always heartfelt follow-up.

I loved this book. I thought the main character would drive me nuts but some how I fell in love with him. The story is original, moving and powerful I would not hesitate to recommend this book. The narrator is great. I would listen to this story again and that is high praise from me.

I enjoyed it because my expectations were low and it was just as I expected. However I don't plan to continue with the series. There was too much gratuitous violence for my taste. That isn't a criticism but more of a personal choice. It has been a while since I read or listened to this kind of book and just thought I would give it another try. However the story was interesting and kept me till the end.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

This was an amazing book. Very powerful. The story had potential to read like a soap opera and to be honest I was nervous buying it, not sure it was my kind of book. But it surprised me. I really enjoyed it. It was well narrated and the story was interesting and dealt so well with such a difficult subject matter. Highly recommended.

Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead, serving in the household of the enigmatic Commander and his bitter wife. She may go out once a day to markets whose signs are now pictures because women are not allowed to read. She must pray that the Commander makes her pregnant, for in a time of declining birthrates her value lies in her fertility, and failure means exile to the dangerously polluted Colonies. Offred can remember a time when she lived with her husband and daughter and had a job, before she lost even her own name....

I didn't finish this book, it was pretty terrible and I just figured it wasn't worth my time. It was a freebie from Audible so it didn't bother me. It is a shame that Audible seems to offer such utter crap for their "thank you gifts". I remember struggling to pick one and settled on this. In the last round I didn't even bother.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

    Story

I didn't find this book to be anything special but was still enjoyable. Very predictable for this genre. It was much too long and could have easily been edited down by about a quarter with no loss to the story. The lead character is unrealistic and not particularly likeable but the rest of the cast made up for it. Some stronger female characters would have been nice, especially ones who main valve was not their beauty but then that is predictable too. I plan to read the next book so I guess that is a recommendation.
