"Full of interesting information"
I agree very much with the previous reviewers. Quite enlightening. I'm going to buy Macbeth next.
"Weird, sometimes dense but original and rewarding"
This is a strange combination of a modern novel, detective story, mystical revelation, gnostic theology and science fiction. It can be tough going sometimes - when there are lots of dense theology - but it also has lots of cynical black humor and it is very original. You have never read something like that before!
"Not the best DeLillo but still worth the money"
Compared with Libra or White Noise this story is more constructed and less realistic.
But it is not as polished as Point Omega.
It is comparable in quality with The Names or Running Dog.
Still worth the money and it is an interesting critique of modern Wall Street life. But also a bit "over the top".
"A strange audiobook - but no waste of money"
For me this was my first exploration of leftist literature. I felt a bit like Alice in Wonderland because I had nothing to compare it with. I now have discovered a part of history that I never knew about. It's a weird but intriguing text.
"A very inspired lecturer"
The second book I bought from this lecturer and again I'm very satisfied. Enthusiastic and insighful. Very nice to listen to.
"Another Ayn Rand disciple?"
This would have been much better if it had been a more balanced book. It is definitely in the free market + religion + tea party ballpark. If that's your inclination then you'll like it. But if you want an objective and balanced view of economics ... definitely pick another book than this.
"Could not finish it - but a very good book"
This one was a bit too grim for me and I was afraid all would end in disaster. But it is a well written book and it is very original - so if you can stand the dark suspense you should go ahead an buy it. It is a bit like Perdido Street Station by China Mieville.
"Gripping"
I was gripped by the dramatic life stories of people who suffer from this handicap. Grim but well written and very interesting.
"Interesting story - well told"
Overall this is an interesting and well written tale. Sometimes I had the feeling that it was almost too good to be true. The KGB was portrayed as precisely the corrupt organization that would suit American propaganda. So sometimes I wondered if someone had sneaked some convenient disinformation into the story. Still it is money well spent on a good book.
"Made things much clearer for me"
Recently I have listened to a lot of lectures about literary theory and this is the best one to date. It makes it much easier to understand the other lectures. Even Derrida gets an interesting treatment! Highly recommended. (note: I'm just an amateur in this field of study.)
