"Great Short Story!"
Amazing Short Story
The book wasn't very long, so it was easy to listen to it all at once
I Highly recommend this book.
"Great continuation of a series"
I would recommend this book after reading the previous books in the series.
This is one of the best Sci-Fi series that I've listened to. I just started the series about a month ago and I finished all of the previous books in the series just before this book came out. The story is very interesting and well thought out. However, just like the previous books, this book has an open ending. It's not a cliff hanger, but there's no conclusion and you're left waiting for the next book to come out to see what happens next.
Before you read this book, you need to read each book in in the series in order from the start because they all happen in sequence.
"Depressing Book"
The entire book was very depressing. I kept hoping that the ending would turn out good, but when I finished I felt like I had wasted my time. The narrator did an ok job, but there was no point to the story.
The plot was about a father and son trying to survive in a desolate, post-apocalyptic world and the most of the book detailed the constant misery they were in. They were cold, starving, and terrified most of the time and they usually wanted to just die.The author never really said how the world supposedly burned up and some how all of the plants in the entire world seemed to be burned up and dead even though some houses here and there were still standing and lakes and rivers still existed, so it didn't make much sense that absolutely no plants and animals were left alive or no plants could ever grow again. The story takes place years after some disaster, but the author writes as if it had just happened.
For example, there was always ash in the air even though it rained fairly often and everything had been burned up a long time ago. There were several other inconsistencies that made me think that the author didn't have a very good idea of how things would actually work in the scenario he created. He just seemed determined to make conditions as bleak as possible for the two main characters in the story.
Overall what really made me give such a low rating came back to what I wrote earlier about the book being depressing. There was absolutely no humor and things were either bad or terrible for the characters. This book probably isn't worth your time.
"Boring Book"
The plot moved slow and I struggled to stay interested the entire story. The ending was left wide open for a sequel, but I have no interest in continuing the series.
"Great Book!"
I've read most of Brandon Sanderson's books People who enjoyed the Mistborn trilogy will like this book. That being said, someone who hasn't read the Mistborn books will still understand this book. This book is really good for people who like magic and logic at the same time. A lot of fantasy books have magic that has undefined boundaries or limitations. The author combines a magic system that is detailed and works with physics. The author does a good job of not getting too caught up in details so that the story moves along though. This is mystery book set in a western time frame where a lawman tries to track down the ringleaders of gang of robbers and kidnappers.
Yes. He does an okay job in some of the other books I've listened to. I think he did a pretty good job in this book though.
Yes, but I listened to it in 2 or 3
This would be a good book to listen to in a long car ride with a group of people. It's fun, interesting, and you don't have to worry about bad language or sexually explicit content. It is a little violent in some places, but its not gory. Mostly gunfights and such.
"Very interesting"
Great Idea, great delivery. I liked how there were different narrators for each of the characters viewpoints. There were 3 or 4 character viewpoints and each had a good narrator. I usually don't get into time travel stories as much, but this book has a very intriguing take on it. I also liked how it was clean, so I can recommend it to any friends and family who like this genre without having to worry about bad language, sexual content, or too much gory violence. There's also enough detail overall to visualize the story, but not so much that it slows down the plot.
"Good, but could have ended better"
I would have made the last half of the book a little more exciting. The first half was great, but then I got bored before the end. I also felt like there wasn't enough of a climax at the end of the book.
She did good most of the time, but there were a few places, especially at the end, where the way she expressed the words to explain noises were a major distraction from the story.
Overall it was a good book. It's clean, great for teenagers, and has an interesting idea. It was good enough for me to get the next book, but I haven't read it yet
