First, get all three books! They tie together seamlessly.
Ann Hathaway's reading is superb. She puts you right into the character and her situations. She is able to change her voice to the point that it seems there are at least 3 different readers..
The only down side to the books is the poor girl's obsessions with her figure (or lack of one), and "French kissing". Despite these negatives, I rate this as excellent family listening. Even our 12 year-old son was hoping there would be more books in this series.
My wife adds that even after having seen the movie first it made the book even more enjoyable because the casting of the movie was not that far off for each of the characters except for Gran mere. We will definitely be listening to this book many more times.
Very upset with Coonts as to the prolific foul language, which is new for him, and the way the story ends. There are several "Jake Grafton" books that come after this one and they are all very good reads. Wonderful story and edge of your seat action ruined by language and porn.
Scott Brick as usual was spot on. The problem was with the editing. At the end of each chapter (just guessing) there is enough "dead air" that I thought my player had stopped playing until it happened enough that I sort of got used to it. Very bothersome.
The story was good enough to try the next one in the series. I kind of enjoy the new King and Maxwell TV series so will peruse this a little further.
This is more like "I Wish You Well", which was a very good listen.
If you enjoy Sparks, you will like this.
I liked this as much as "Last Man Standing", My first Baldacci book. Two totoaly different stories, both excelant reads.
Near the top
This is excellent family fair. Fast paced and very interesting. The ending is complete, but sets up for many sequels which I hope come soon.
Maybe when and if Audible gets the rest of the book
The book just stops in the middle of everything. Very disapointing.
carefully because of the language
the final "letter" Edward recives from his father
he does a very good narration
When will we get a rating system or better yet family friendly versions of these great books?
very suspencefull and fairly fast paced.
I always enjoy future histroys and this fit right in. Absolutely no profane language or even implied sex.
She is a good narrator with good timing and the perfect voice for "Catnes". Her other characters were distinct. You didn't have to try to figure out which person was talking.
It was very sad in spots, but it also had a lot of "feel good" moments and hummor.
Good does win in the end without a fairy tale feeling.
Profane language used even in general conversation. We listen as a family and this is not family fare. Quit after a hour or so. Too bad as we like this type of story.
I truly wish that there was a rating for audio books like movies.
I have made this suggestion to audible several times over the years
Anger that I spent even the $4.95 on this audio porn.
This is an excellent story. It smacks of the reality of what probably happened during and just after 9/11. The multiple narrators was a nice touch.
Except for prolific profanity it would have been perfect. This is not a story that the whole family will want to listen to.
It is a shame that the authors chose to use extreme language (by only 1 character), and include a very explicit sex seen.
This would have been an excellent family read, and rated 5 stars. Neither the sex nor the language added anything to the story.
